John Lasell Dies: ‘Dark Shadows’ And ‘The Twilight Zone’ Character Actor Was 95 (https://deadline.com/2024/10/john-lasell-dead-dark-shadows-the-twilight-zone-character-actor-1236114722/)

He certainly more than outlived Dr. Guthrie. But why, oh, why does the obit say Guthrie was a "vampire hunter," particularly considering there weren't any vampires on the show when he was on. Shame on Deadline, which is usually much more reliable.

I don't recall if I ever saw his The Twilight Zone - I'll have to track it down...

Wow - I've now seen more than half a dozen obits that say Guthrie was a "vampire hunter"!  [hall2_shocked]  Who knows which obit first got that wrong, but it seems like the others are all following suit because they're using that one as their source. Does no one do their own research anymore?!  [hall2_rolleyes]

Dr. Guthrie is featured as today's entry from 2022 in the "MUST" slideshow:

Ep #163 (1967) - Dr. Guthrie - 'What an interesting
observation-- we MUST discuss it sometime.

One of my favorite moments of his when he and Laura indulge in some of their verbal sparring. From the Robservations for the ep:

And such a strange illness, he says--what do you make of it. I'll leave making anything out of it to you, she says, after all, that's your business. I've never seen anything like it--not in this world, he says. Are there any other worlds? She asks. There might be, he replies. What an interesting observation, she says--we must discuss it sometime. Haven't you ever considered the possibilities of another world? he asks. (another soap, now defunct.) Let me put it this way, she says, I feel that the possibilities of things in this world are so infinite that it's difficult to conceive of another. What an interesting observation, he says, grinning--we must discuss it sometime.
