Title: Dark Politics
Post by: retzev on April 13, 2006, 02:29:09 AM
Just curious about the political orientation of the average DS fan - please do not reply to this topic so that the results will remain ENTIRELY ANONYMOUS. If you vote in the poll, but do not post a reply, your vote will remain ENTIRELY ANONYMOUS -  :-X

You did not allow for anything to the left of "liberal".

I hope we don't make too much of this poll. I have always been happy that this board is relatively pretty free of divisive politics, as was the series. Or did I miss the scene in 1897 when Quentin confronted "Cousin Barnabas", "So tell me dear cousin, how are Cleveland's immigration policies being perceived in Great Britain?"   ;)

"Extremely Liberal"

That was a response to Trask's statement, by the way, not a delaration of my ideology.

And yes, Michael, I agree. That's why I asked that noone reply, at least in regards to their position. This is no place for political debate, in fact it's a nice escape from it. I started the poll only because I was curious about the general position of the average DS fan.

Thanks to everyone who has voted in the poll -

I don't know what "extremely liberal" would be.    Liberalism isn't really a very extreme sort of thing.   A socialist, say, would be to the left of liberal and might view a liberal as being pretty mainstream, by definition (though on the left side of the mainstream).    It's only since the Moral Majority that "liberal" got recast as being "extreme", and I'm not sure a lot of people know what they mean when they say that.

See, hard to keep the politics out of a thread like this one.

By the way, around the same time (1980), the last liberal Republican that I know of to run for President, John Anderson, fizzled out, but they existed.   so that complicates things.     Where would he fall on the poll?   Or Libertarians?

To keep this from getting further off topic, please just choose as best as you can.

I thought I was exactly on topic.    I don't see anything there for me.
