Darker Shadows (Fan Fic by Walt Chmara)???
A long time ago I read a great fan fic called Darker Shadows by Walt Chmara.
I devoured about 13 chapters, but after a while of no updates I gave up checking in . . until about two years ago.
It took quite a bit of Google searching, but I found it. And I found out Walt Chmara was re-editing his story.
He only had a few chapters of the revised story posted.
I lost track of it at some point, but decided recently to look for it again.
So far my google search has shown up a couple of dead links and . . something else . . "Darker Shadows by Jack Copet" . .
Is this the same story and same author? I think it is because the links look the same:
(dead links) Walt

(dead link) Jack

Any way . .
My question to you, my cousins . .
Is there any chance this story is still being written?
Is the story still on-line?
Do you have any clue as to where I could find it?
Does anyone remember this fan fic?
Right now I'm google-ing "alanesue" . . it shows up in two different dead links.
If I find anything I'll let you know.
If you know anything please let me know.

Hey . . I didn't relies how close I was here. My google search turned up a post dated July 30, 2002 where Mysterious Benefactor mentions AlaneSue was a "former forum leaders".
I'm guessing AlaneSue is the same person as Walt, maybe?
I also found a forum for the TV show "Lost", but his last post was last sometime last year.

McTrooper,
"Darker Shadows" was originally posted on other fans' websites until he moved it to his own. But I have no idea if it's online anymore. His current address is wchmara@yahoo.com.
What I think is confusing you is that for a long time, Alane hosted DS fan fic on her webspace. She's very much still around-- under the name Alane Megna-- but is much less involved with DS these days as she is with other fandoms.

Thank you for clearing that up. :) I'll email him and find out.

If your search doesn't turn up anything, then I could suggest putting some of those dead links into http://www.archive.org/ You could find the old text.

Alane is a moderator of a yahoo group devoted to Buffy the Vampire Slayer called Bloody Awful.

Ah yes the Wayback Macine. :) I did think about using that (but didn't get around to googleing up the link). I had great luck finding Gargoyals stuff on that a few years ago . . anyway part of the reason I asked here is that the story (to my knowledge didn't get finished) and I knew he was revising it.
But . . I did find a good archive of one of the story sites with the Wayback Macine:

Yes, this is one of the better fan-fictions. Walt was covering a LOT of mulit-layered territory there. And I really appreciated his conception of the afterlife and where the Deity as well as the Devil fits into the DS-verse, a facet rather neglected on the show because
the ministers in the program were also a couple of the most prominent villains and unflatteringly depicted in general.
Too bad a couple of the chapters seem to have disappeared 404-ever, though I do recall reading them some years back. Good times!
Hope this is brought back in its entirety, though I do have one small problem--- hopefully he will put better dividing marks between shifts in scene than margins, as they sometimes ran into each other a little confusingly.

This looks most interesting! I'll have to give it a read this Summer when I have more time. It looks very cool from what I saw of it.

I got an email back from Walt Chmara.
He confirmed that the story probably it isn't hosted by anyone (he may or may not know about the Internet Archive).
He also explained that he might finish the story one day, but indicated that it might not happen for a long time.
= = =
D_Friedlander and PennyDreadful Darker Shadows wasn't finished, but I may have some backups of what was written.

Thanks to Ms. Friedlander for giving us the archived link the this, I wish the author would finish it one day, it is really good, I recommend it.

'Twas Mctrooper who cracked the case, though I too would surely appreciate the reappearance of the missing (earlier) chapters someday.
