Title: What's that statue?

In the entryway at Collinwood (in the present day episodes), on the big table just before you get to the drawing room, there's a rather large statue of a guy bending over holding a...shovel?  What's he doing?  Is he shoveling coal or something?  Anyone know the significance of that?

I've always just wondered about that.

Don't know, but he looks like a misplaced lawn jockey to me, LOL!  ;)

From what I can tell, the guy seems to be harvesting wheat or hay.

From what I can tell, it actually appears to be a shirtless man shoveling. I've actually ran the videos slow to get a better look at it a while back, and that's my best college Art History judgement. The style is pretty rugged, rather Rodin with a touch of say Remington. Probably heavy cast bronze. It doesn't seem to tie in with the family specifically, like say those nautical paintings in Roger's office or that clipper show model that floats around the house (all puns intended). I think its just to illustate this is a wealthy family who can afford a nice pricey objet d'art.
