Title: Tappan Zee 1955 - 2017/2019
Post by: Midnite on January 30, 2019, 07:17:01 PM
The screen grab attached below is of the Tappan Zee Bridge (connecting Nyack with Tarrytown) as seen above Lyndhurst in Night of Dark Shadows.  And the video in the below link shows the final moments of its Eastern approach (which I believe to be the same portion seen in NoDS) on January 19 when it was demolished by explosives.

The replacement is called the Mario Cuomo Bridge and not, unfortunately, the Mario Cuomo Tappan Zee Bridge.  [snow_sad]

Tappan Zee Bridge comes down in a flash; video (https://www.lohud.com/story/news/local/tappan-zee-bridge/2019/01/15/tappan-zee-bridge-comes-down-flash/2573657002/)

Many thanks to Kosmo for the link!

The Tappen Zee Bridge was demolished?!? Who knew? Not me.

I've been on Tappen Zee going to Cape Cod a couple few times (and Falmouth!!).

I was surprised to see the new bridge back in August when I spent almost week in the area. I hadn't heard anything about it (but really didn't have a reason to anyway...). Drove across it several times going back and forth between my motel in Nyack and Tarrytown/Irvington. It's actually a pretty nice bridge. But I miss the Tappan Zee name.
