Title: <OT, Tried Searching...
Post by: Patti Feinberg on January 13, 2019, 07:15:48 PM
Tried doing an advanced search, nada.

I was channel surfing, when I see a new PBS (2018) series, on right now, called, "Woman in White".

It doesn't seem to be related (so far) to the movie I had mentioned (w/Daniel Radcliff), but, seems nominally interesting, and, there's 5 consecutive 1-hour eps on today, again, PBS.

That must be your PBS station(s), Patti, because it not on around here.

As for the show itself, so as not to give too much away I'll simply say that I watched it a few months back and found it to be a very different take from what one might expect...

The Woman in White is based on a famous Victorian novel by Wilkie Collins. There was a really good PBS serial of it in the late 70s or early 80s, and a 1940s film version starring Sydney Greenstreet, with our own Anita Bolster in a supporting role.

When you say a film with Daniel Radcliffe, I presume you mean THE WOMAN IN BLACK, which was based on a 1980s novel by Susan Hill.

I realized woman in BLACK, v. white a few hours after my post.

But, they showed all 5 eps in a row.

It was in fact different than what I too expected, but, I enjoyed it.

Between each ep, the announcer said it could be watched on Prime; yeah, for a $3.99/ep price, while I was watching for free (satellite isn't free, but you know what I mean).

I would NOT recommend paying to see it on Prime; it'll be on your local PBS station soon enough (we actually have 2 different PBS' down here).
