Title: Why was DS pre-empted on October 23, 1970?

The DS Program Guide lists the reason whenever an episode was pre-empted.

It was a total triumph for him, but then we all knew that. It almost eclipses the moon landing in our collective consciousness. From that point on, no one doubted that the war was a great thing. Good old Dick, gettin' the job done... for us. Had a great opening act, too. A juggler, or something.
