Title: Why WB should release HODS on DVD
Post by: Brian on October 10, 2005, 01:57:00 AM
If Warners can spend the time and money to release NIGHT OF THE LEPUS on DVD, why the heck can't they do the same for HODS?  Granted, we're still waiting for the restoration of NODS, but a nice clean transfer of HODS would be most welcome.  And enough of the actors are still with us--maybe some could be hired to do a commentary track!  For more about LEPUS, check this link.

Whoa - what a slap in the face.  [hall2_rolleyes]

One can only assume that WB is hoping the kitsch factor of Night of the Lepus will sell DVDs. And of the many faults hoDS might possess, one of them is NOT that it's kitschy.

The answer is obvious - not enough bunnies in HODS.:)

Yes, HODS only had one bunny and a former bunny at that. KLS was a playboy bunny before and during the early part of DS, but she had given that up by the time HODS was being filmed.

The irony of NIGHT OF THE LEPUS getting released before the DS Films is certainly not lost on me.

That said, its a solid indicator that more odd, culty titles will be forthcoming from Warners. If the current wave (which includes Donald Cammell's DEMON SEED, DRACULA A.D. 1972, Paul Bartel's PRIVATE PARTS and A STRANGER IS WATCHING) sells well, of course.

The only thing a little worrisome is the lack of bonus features outside of trailers on any of these titles (and the previous wave as well) certainly there's much of interest to be said about DEMON SEED which I'm fairly sure has been a higher seller than the DS films have been on previous video releases.

That said, even if Warners decides to opt out of bonus features for HOUSE OF DARK SHADOWS, I'm hoping that when they do put it on the schedule, we'll be able to convince them to put some of their considerable muscle into getting any remaining Japanese elements from the film returned. At this stage I think that's the only way we can hope to recover the longer Japanese cut.

Well, KLS was a *bunny* at one of the clubs, but she didn't actually pose for the magazine, LOL!   [hall2_shocked]  She was a hostess really.

Yes, but she still was a "Bunny". [hall2_kiss]

LOL, I think I got "bunny" and "playmate" confused.  I was thinking that those that posed were bunny's, then realized after I posted that those that pose are referred to as playmates.   [hall2_grin]

Darren - I thought I read somewhere that you had recovered this footage?
