Title: The name Lara
Post by: Josette on August 17, 2018, 07:27:43 AM
It's not often that one encounters the name Lara rather than Laura.  I was noticing tonight, while they were playing Omarosa's recording of her conversation with Trump's daughter-in-law, that her name is Lara.  I couldn't help but wonder if her parents (or one of them) were fans of DS and named her after "our" Lara.

The could have also been fans of the Omar Sharif/Julie Christie film, Dr Zhivago, from the Pasternak novel. Remember what a big top 40/junkbox hit "Lara's Theme" was?  The theme was introduced in that movie. That may have been where our Lara herself came up with the name.

I did a query on the name Lara and it turns out the  name is of Russian origin. I know Mrs. Trump is not Russian but she speaks it fluently.

Interesting point, Gothick - I never thought of that one.

Of course, the name of the tragic heroine in Doctor Zhivago is Lara.
