Detente in DVD Format Wars?
The Blu-ray vs. HD DVD battle is holding back the adoption of next-generation DVD formats. So far the battle lines have been clear and distinct. But now a detente seems to be brewing, at least for Hewlett-Packard. The huge computer maker, a strong proponent of Blu-ray, has come out publicly in support of a third method--adoption of key HD-DVD software that separates the two platforms. What's going on here?
