Title: "Christening" Collinwood
Post by: Bob_the_Bartender on April 10, 2002, 03:59:07 AM
Dear Fellow Dark Shadows Fans,

At the risk of sounding exceedingly sacrilegious (and, also, coming from a former altar boy), when the Collins family moved en masse into the new mansion several weeks ago, which couple, do you think, were the first ones to make "whoopee" in Collinwood?

Somehow, I can't see the first couple being Joshua and Naomi.  And, as we all know, Jeremiah and Josette were no longer an "item."  So, who do you think the lucky couple was?

Sincerely,

Bob the Bartender, who's counting the days for the arrival of the lovely Ms. M.

That's a tough question, Bob.  But then again, I find it hard to believe that Joshua and Naomi ever had sex at all... especially before little Sarah was born.  Hey, didn't Mrs. Johnson tell Willie about a pirate, one of Naomi's many admirers, that showered her with jewels?

I know, I know... the Collins family history from early in the series was rewritten, and THAT Naomi was said to have died of old age anyway, but the pirate story did sound fun.  I do wonder what she saw in Joshua, though-- besides money, power, station...  Whoops, I blundered into a different subject, sorry!

Okay, now you're scaring me.  I suspect you're not referring to Maude, but to the "white witch". :o

Given the potential candidates, this is a tough question.  I too doubt that by this time Joshua and Naomi had any kind of physical relationship. And given what happens to Millicent, I doubt she will ever get involved in another relationship.  Perhaps the first couple will be a grown-up Daniel and his bride.

Considering the way Collins' were dropping like flies before and after the move I'd have to put my money on one or more of the servants.   :D

Dear Fellow Dark Shadows Fans,

After much soul-searching, I have come to the conclusion that it was Joshua Collins' faithful manservant Riggs and Suki Forbes, who were the first couple to "get it on" in the great, new house of Collinwood.

Sincerely,

Bob the Bartender

PS Lookalikes: the Rev. Trask and the late, great Freddy Mercury from the rock group Queen.

Why? Was Ben Stokes celibate?

I've always thought of whoopee and Collinwood as oxymorons.  I mean, really, I can't even imagine anyone doing the deed in that creepy, drafty old house!

However, I feel challenged, so let me think. . .

I doubt Naomi and Josh were doing a darn thing, and losing both kids to sudden death might ruin any romantic mood even if they were.

Frankly, I can't imagine that any Collins family members, or even Natalie, would feel like doing "it" under the circumstances, so I'm going to guess it was the scullery maid, Eloise, and her ardent gardener-lover, Patrick "the rake" O'Neal.  She's going to get pregnant and Joshua will send her and her lover packing!

Love, Robin

Abigail and Trask, I don't think so.  Abigail would have a headache.  ;D

Who is the lovely Ms. M?

It's possible that Nathan forced himself on Millicent. It's also possible that Millicent and Barnabas 'did the deed.'

Otherwise my guess is that nobody ever had sex in the new house until Daniel grew up and married Harriet - and they only did it twice. It wasn't until Quentin 1 was an adult that the house became a little more "lively." :-*

I keep looking for "Naomi's Necklace" but never see it. The necklace was the motivation for Willie to visit the Collins mausoleum. He was actually looking to rob Naomi's grave, due to the pirate/necklace story Mrs. Johnson had told him, when he accidentally discovered the secret room.

I'm disappointed they didn't follow through with this legend in the 1795 story line. However, Dan Curtis did re-introduce the infamous necklace in both House of Dark Shadows and the prime time revival, both of which showed Barnabas, newly released from his coffin and meeting the Collins family for the first time, presenting Elizabeth with the legendary "lost" jewels, as Roger called them in HODS. There is a portrait of Joan Bennet as Naomi in HODS wearing the necklace.
