I was thinking, what if DS got re-edited?
Edited to cut out:
The video re-cap (starting out a minute before the previous show ended) turning two or three episodes into a continuous story.
Scenes that really didn't add to the story or ran longer than needed.
Would something like this kind of editing make it easier to watch (less time) and possibly more exciting to younger generations?
Any thoughts?

Check out the first 8 volumes of the VHS releases (non-collectors series) and you'll see just that!

personally i wouldn't vote for a re-edit.
as darren gross pointed out volumes 1-8 edit out the material not specific to the barnabas storyline.i found that very irritating.the other actor's work deserves to be seen too.remember one man's trash is another man's treasure.
and it's only a half hour show to begin with.minus commercials about 23 minutes.i would hope that our younger generation doesn't have such a shortened attention span that they can't get through a 23 minute show.
plus "unnecessary" things like the re-cap,the voiceover, the credits and even the occasional flub add to the shows distinct feeling. :P

Re-edit... I would vote no...
Dark Shadows is a classic and you don't tamper with a classic.
You either like it or you don't... Editing it wouldn't make people like it. If they don't like it to begin with. Then they never will.

Those of us who are really diehard fans don't want ANY editing. We want every minute of the series AS AIRED. It's fun when they occasionally manage to retrieve outtakes, as well (check the blooper video for a great one involving Grayson and Jerry Lacy).
It was upsetting to us that some scenes were snipped due to "video glitches" or some other excuse in the first few DVD sets. Apparently this happened because MPI sent the shows out for clean-up. They obviously meant well but there was quite an uproar from the fans who know these shows like the back of their (fill in favorite member).
I think those who just watch the show casually find this sort of thing odd, but hardcore DS'ers do tend to put the FANATIC into FAN.

[lghy].....Goddess, I do SO love the way you express yourself.

I wouldn't mind seeing some of the really really bad bloopers edited out. I think they can be distracting to the story at hand.

No, in fact I felt gypped knowing the vhs eps had been edited a bit. I found myself wondering what I was missing. ~DJ
