Now images can also be hidden by placing them between the spoiler tags:
Here's an image I want to hide:
And absolutely nothing has changed about how you use the tags. Simply type the code for your image(s) as you normally would:
Here's an image I want to hide:
This new feature also has the advantage of hiding any smileys that you might use in your spoilers. I've always thought it was rather tacky that the smileys showed even though the text was hidden until the mouse cursor was passed over the spoiler box. However, it didn't dawn on me how to hide images until today. But better late than never. ;)

MB, where is the icon for spoiler? I've gone through the list above and can't find it.

The spoiler feature is my own addition to the system and, unfortunately, I haven't been able to find the time yet to create an icon for it that displays along with SMF's other BCC features. :( For now people need to type the two spoiler tags in their posts on their own:
spoiler text and/or image(s)
I also haven't been able to make a new spoiler message icon, which is why none is displaying for posts that use it.

Oh, okay, now I get it. Sometimes I feel so dumb!

How do you read what is in the spoilers box?

All you have to do is highlight it. :)

Thank you Ian :)

Unfortunately, that's what someone has to do in the piece of crap that is IE because it doesn't implement all the CSS2 (or even CSS1, for that matter ::)) specifications. In most other browsers all one has to do is place the mouse cursor over the inside of the spoiler box and the hidden text will automatically appear on its own.

While we're on the subject of other browsers, I have a quick little question. What are the apparent "security problems" that these forums have with Opera 8.50?
-
Well, those are issues that we're not about to address specifically. ;) But suffice it to say that we've banned the use of Opera (as well as other browsers) here for what we consider to be very good reasons. Reasons that have everything to do with the security of the forum and not the security of the people using Opera, which is more often the case when most people think of security issues with browsers. And the decision(s) to ban wasn't reached lightly or cavalierly.
Let's just say that any Webmaster who allows Opera to be used on their site could be taking an awful chance...
-
I've been using Firefox. Is that still okay?

I can only assume it would be. If you try to go to the forums in Opera, it won't even let you access anything. So I assume since you can get to the homepage and post and everything, you're good. ;)
-
That's right - the banned browser message comes up the minute you access the forum. So, unless you see a message that starts off:
"Unfortunately, the browser you're currently using: (name of browser) has security issues with Dark Shadows Forums. Until further notice, in order to access the forum..."
you're definitely good to go. ;)

Ok now I got my answer after I posted my last question! Isn't that how it always works? Can't find the answer to a question until after you ask the question. Then, the answer pops out and bites you on the
ASS!!!

Believe me, hidden spoilers are MUCH appreciated by the viewers who haven't seen all the storylines. And I'm not at all suggesting that posters wait for the Forum mods to add them.
-
I just found out I can't post anywhere except in the testing 1,2,3....how come?
I am sorry, I know I have been bad about spoilers, I keep trying to remember to put spoilers on....all I can do is spell SPOILER....or is there something else I can do to warn when I am gonna do a spoiler?

Is there a button I need to use to warn about a spoiler? Because I don't think we have one on my computer.

You have to manually type in the following starting with the brackets with the words spoiler between them:
type the spoiler between these two codes
Thanks for the help. I promise to be more careful when putting up spoilers in the future.
However I discover I can't post in the current talks, I have been restricted to testing 1, 2, 3. I hope this is temporary.
As I say I will be more cautious with the spoiler mode from now on.

Did I really say that? I don't remember that post, and it's a shame, because I'd kind of like the feeling of being that full of myself....
