"War Games" spotlights a group of soldiers stationed outside Luxembourg during the Battle of the Bulge. A world premiere by Sam Hall, writer for the cult TV series "Dark Shadows." Center for Performing Arts, Route 308, Rhinebeck. Performances 8 p.m. April 1-3, 8-10. Tickets $20, $17 senior citizens and children. Call 876-3080.
How wild is that?

Where's Rhinebeck?

Where's Rhinebeck?
Oops - sorry about that. It's in New York. :)

The play house it's in looks like a barn. Reminds me of one of those Judy and Mickey movies. Oh Aunt Such and So... let's have a play.... Center for the Performing Arts (http://www.centerforperformingarts.org/) website.

All the world's a stage (http://),
And all the men and women merely players (http://).
They have their exits and their entrances (http://);
And one woman in her time plays many parts... (http://)

Apparently, there were preview performances on March 25 and 26 at the Merritt Bookstore in Millbrook. (http://www.merrittbooks.com/) Hall was scheduled to give a talk and participate in a Q&A session following both performances.

Wow. I'd love to hear more about this. Many thanks, MB, for the post.

I'm going to take this opportunity to also suggest :P that posters who wish to advertise their own sites in their posts are welcome to do so, but tacking it onto a message that doesn't discuss the site takes up server space, yet this can be avoided if they'd put the invitation/advertisement in their signature instead.

For More Info about the Center sponsoring the play:

The Center's web site organization leaves something to be desired. If you visit the home page (http://www.centerforperformingarts.org) and scroll down the page and click on the News link (http://www.centerforperformingarts.org/news2.htm) (I'll include a direct link here, but this page will leave you stranded if you enter the site through it), you can read the media release for War Games, in which Sam Hall is credited with "creating Dark Shadows."
Don't tell Dan. :-X

My faith in the discipline of reporting plumets even further . . .a few minutes online would've verified a few facts. . .

Damn right!!! ;D
Damn right!!! I second that 100%!!!
That must have been going on all the times Barnabas and Julia were left at the old house and we were taken to another scene somewhere else and missed out on all that action at the old house. >:D

Well, really is this how Sam remembers it (he is 80-something?) Julia & Barnabas being lovers (cuz he never wrote a damn word about his wife's characters gettin some) [scratch] [scratch] or did the reporter misunderstand and not fact check---maybe a combination of both?

Just guessing here, but this is also based on tracking down reviews of recent plays featuring a certain actor. ;D
Since this is a weekend production, and this past weekend marked the first performances, any reviews are likely to hit local papers around Thurs/Fri when they typically post sections and features about weekend entertainment options.
-
Well I'll post my own review next week. ..I plan on attending this weekend. :o

Here is a review of Sam's play, War Games from the New Paltz Times:
