Title: Special Music Artists
Post by: dvlvan26 on March 23, 2005, 11:19:58 PM
Good Evening Cousins!
If DS had a higher production budget and could afford to feature music artists,
who would you have like to seen on any of the episodes?

Have A Good Night dear cousins and watch out for "Children of the Night" (i.e. Barnabas, Werewolves, etc)

Love, dvlvan26

Warren Zevon!!

"Werewolves of London" [Wolfie]    and "Excitable Boy"  (which I have playing on my headphones as I write... :D ) were MEANT for a show like DS!!

When you think about it, DS would have been a great forum for musical guests.  It had a huge youth following, and the Blue Whale set could have easily been re-worked to accomodate a stage.

My personal picks would be:

The Mamas and the Papas
Nancy Sinatra
The Supremes

I think Barnabas would have taken VW to hear the Boston Symphony.  Going to the symphony or opera is what the idol rich and even merchant classes did in their European travels.  (No TV.)  Would also make for a time travel sequence.  A salon scene with some chamber music would also be nice.

Gary Puckett And the Union Gap
Tommy James and the Shondells
The Box Tops
Certain songs by each of the above always give me DS flash-backs when I catch them on the radio..... :)

I keep thinking of the scene where Barnabas confronts Josette after she ran off with Jeremiah. Can you see Barnabas belting out "Baby, Baby Where did our love go"  I don't know who would be his Supremes. Joshua and Andre? :o

My Mom said this: I'd love to see Paul Anka on the show. He could sing "I'm just a lonely boy" for Willie. He's also a good actor. ~DJ's Mom

Hello, Cousins!
I wasn't born during the original run of DS, I was born just before DS was showing on PBS.
As I watch the episodes, I would have liked to have seen the following artist/groups on the show:

The Association                         Also, as I have watched Vicki wearing striped blouses, I get the feeling of
The Turtles                              the song "Fun, Fun, Fun", by the Beach Boys is playing in the background :)
The Temptations                      The Beatles
Mary Wells                                Otis Redding( Sitting at the Dock of the Bay)
Steppenwolf

and so many others that I can't think of at this moment...

OMG, flashback to my childhood!

Anything Motown!
The Beatles
Supremes
The Association
Fleetwood Mac (via time travel ;D)  "Rhiannon" had that DS feel to it.
Rolling Stones
Mamas & Papas

Excuse me, but I suddenly feel the need to listen to some oldies and read my old 16 magazines.

Peace and luv!

The Murmaids. <snort>

"Popsicles...Icicles..."

In some of my giddier moments, I've often imagined silly scenes with celebrities making cameos on DS as themselves.  For example, Barnabas and Willie are in the Old House having a serious discussion when they hear a knock at the door.  Willie looks out the window and exclaims, "Barnabas, it's Barbra Streisand!"  They invite her in, she plugs her latest album, and then she leaves and the scene continues.
