Vickie: Yes, Mrs. Stoddard, they are beautiful. But, I would have picked you some fresh ones. I wish we hadn't taken them from that grave marked Laura Stockbridge Collins.

Vicki:  "What an unusual floral arrangement, Mrs. Stoddard!"

La Liz:  "Unusual?  Didn't they have wolfbane-garlic flower-tanna leaf-moon poppy arrangements in New York?"

[lol2]  Are you sure that's Liz talking? Or is it Morticia Addams?  [b003]

Joan:  Alexandra, please tell the prop man that he isn't going to fool anyone.   No matter how much water and aspirin he puts in this vase, these flowers are hopelessly wilted!

Elizabeth: yes they are beautiful... I almost didn't take them, but then I thought what the heck the patients at Windcliff can't appreciate them...

Vickie: I know what you mean.

VW:  "I love standing in line to pet the flowers!     I only camped out two days!   Hey, Stoddard, beep beep, get a move on, some of us have lives to get back to!     Get a room, you two!    Move it, flower hog!!"

We get an award for "Year's Wierdest Caption", right?

Yes, the reward is that the people who post them get banned from the forum for 6 months. ... Oh, wait - that's only a reward for the admin/mods. Never mind...

 [b003]

Seriously, though - and I haven't even mentioned this to Midnite yet - but I've been giving serious thought to possibly celebrating the first anniversary of the Caption This! board in January by having a poll to pick the best caption of the past year. However, the list of nominees would probably be picked by the admin/mods (with the winner then voted on by the forum's members), so anyone who might like us to consider one of their captions for the poll might want to stay on our good sides.  ;D

I never meant to cause any problems.

I think this is a WONDERFUL idea!!  ;)

I was just yanking your chain, Magnus - hence the winking/laughing smiley ([b003]). I'm definitely a fan of your captions. And in fact, one of your "weirder" ones is still one of my all-time favorite captions on the board. This one for Ep #259:

Carolyn:   "Oh mother, I know you've disapproved of some of my
relationships in the past, but for once, trust me!    This chain-link
fence and I are going to be very, very happy together!"

Elizabeth:    "Carolyn... dear... you're... well.... you're a moron, dear!"

One of the reasons I think it's so funny is because it takes a visual from the screen capture and puts a spin on it that's so unexpectedly absurd that it's funny.  [thumb]

The only type of "weird" captions that have us [hdscrt] are the ones that come completely from out of left field and seem to have no correlation whatsoever to the screen capture they're supposedly captioning. To protect the guilty, I won't cite an example - but I'm sure the regular readers of this board certainly know the type I'm referring to.  ;)

So long as captions stay within the guidelines for this board and the forum in general and they play off of some visual(s) in the screen capture, we're not likely to ever have a problem with them.

Elizabeth: Well, with all the death and mayhem in this house, we Collinses know a lot about floral arrangements- especially at funerals!

I heard that...

...just kidding.   ;)

Absolutely dahling... ;) Although, even the odd ones give me a chuckle after a long day (weird sense of humor runs in my family), and half the time I can't come up with a caption to save my life, so...

And I have to say that I adore the idea of your having a poll for the best caption of the year, MB. If you guys decide to do that, I'm SO there... ;D  :-*

MB-- Thanks.  I actually did need to hear all that, badly.   Long story.

"Yes, thank you, Vickie,  it is a beautiful floral arrangement.  You know, someday a very enterprising person will start a huge financial empire, just by hawking these charming flowers to the American consumers."

Elizabeth: "And, to show my appreciation for all you've done, I left a special arrangement of Pottsylvania creepers in your room."
