Title: DS Milestones
Post by: dvlvan26 on March 06, 2005, 07:50:20 PM
Goo Day Cousins!
Recently, I fulfilled my English Proficiency Requirement test at my university. It was a huge milestone for me, since things in my life have been bad as of late. Can anyone think of any milestones that DS had?

Love You All, dvlvan26

Don't know if it's an actual milestone, but Barnabas was only supposed to be on for X amount of shows; but he was such a hit that TPTB continued writing for him (and I believe that's how we got the 1795 storyline).

Also, seeing David go from a child to a young adolescent was milestonish.

Cheer up cuz!!

The first milestone was when Josette's ghost stepped out the portrait. That's when the show took a turn for the supernatural. [Ghost00]

Another milestone would be when Barnabas first saw the PT room into 1970 and hoped if he could only enter that time perhaps he could be cured of his affliction   [vampy]

Congrats, Dvlvan!

One of the big milestones was right from the beginning:  the use of exteriors and motion-picture filming (incorporated into the episodes).  And also the use of a Hollywood legendary star, Joan Bennett, in the lead role.  Oh, and don't forget a recorded soundtrack with a full orchestra, as opposed to the standard organ then employed in most soaps.

DS Milestones?  Where to begin.  First, the fact that DS was the first soap to feature supernatural elements.  The arrival of Barnabas.  1795 - the first of several trips back in time.  Parallel Time.  I think the arrivals of Barnabas, and later, Julia  shifted the dynamics of the show dramatically.  Had both been killed off as per the original storyline, what a differrent show DS would have been. :o

Good Day Cousins!
I am back from Spring Break and I am ready to laugh myself silly over our posts.
I was accepted into my university's School of Business Administration over the break. It was another milestone in my life. :)

Another milestone that I would have to name for DS: The Introduction of Angelique Bouchard >:D

Thank You All For Making Me Happy and Supporting ME! :)

Love Y'all, dvlvan26 :)

Milestone?  I see it as a descent into his own personal ring of Dante's Hell.  [angry7]

Thank You Maybellique! :)
Things have been looking up for me. I have already registered for Fall Semester. I will be making a few bucks on the side. ^-^

Alas, thank you all. Everyone here on the boards have filled the many voids of my life, juast as DS has filled my huge void of happiness and joy. :)

Sometimes, it seems like I connect with all the online cousins here than people in real life. ;)

Love You All and Ready to Post, :-*

Not me. Think of the alternative. What could he have done without this hard, cold lesson Barnabas served him? I think he would have continued drifting, gambling, thieving and eventually been put in jail for life to rot in there or worse. Definitely a milestone for him. ~DJ

DS Milestone: an afternoon soap opera that prompted kids and teenagers to run home from school at breakneck speed to catch an episode (up to that point, most daytime programming was watched by and primarily geared toward women over 18).
Another milestone was the phenomenon of the DS stars being featured in teen magazines like "16", "Tiger Beat", "Fave" - once exclusive to teen idols and rock groups. Suddenly, there was forty-ish Jonathan Frid and Grayson Hall gracing the pages of "16 Magazine" with the likes of The Monkees, The Mod Squad, and Bobby Sherman.

Hey dvlvan26, congratulations from one student to another.

Milestone:  how about the first time Don Briscoe took off his shirt.  I imagine that for some viewers, that scene provided a moment of realization.  ;)  I know it was one of many for me... <lol>

A significant DS milestone for me was when Victoria Winters was permantently off the show. Up to that point DS had a certain Gothic feel to it that I really enjoyed. The focus of the series was of course more on the adventures of Barnabus and Julia after that. Not that this was a bad thing, it was just different.
