Title: T. Elliott Stokes
Post by: Captain James Kirk on February 15, 2005, 11:17:01 PM
Professor Elliott Stokes read the memoirs of his ancestor Ben Stokes who was a servant to the Collins family in the 18th century. Ben wrote a memoir of his life and Professor Stokes read it. Some of the pages referring to the "original" Barnabas Collins were torn out. Professor Stokes was a curious sort of person who liked to find answers to questions. He often seemed to be befuddled about some things, but it always seemed he knew more about things than he lead people to believe.

Welcome, Capt. Kirk!!

A lot of us think Professor Stokes must have figured out about Barnabas but didn't let on to anyone.  He certainly had lots of clues.  Especially the time when
Barnabas was buried alive and Julia made the connection between him and Adam and realized that he must still be alive and needed to be dug up.  She needed Stokes' help and promised to explain afterwards.  He certainly got lots of clues from that episode.  (Althought Barnabas wasn't a vampire at that point, so we can't tell if he had enough information to figure out that part.)
I'm pretty sure Stokes figured it out and kept quiet about it.

I think as much as Elliott was curious and wanted to understand what was going on with Barnabas and Julia and all the goings on at the Old House he knew when to just not ask and hope for the best in all things... the good professor with all his wisdom knew that too much knowledge espcially where the Collins family is concerned is much to much a danger to one's own health.  ^-^  "I find that a good chedder helps me sleep"

Stokes seemed to know when to offer answers, when to hold back and just listen.  He read Barnabas and Julia very well.  He knew he'd not get answers from them anytime soon.  They always said, "I'll explain later" and then never did.  I believe he knew more than he admitted.

That scene between Stokes and Julia, late in the Adam storyline, where they're in the drawing room at Collinwood with a chessboard between them, really sums up well the ambiguities of what the writers reveal regarding what Stokes does and does not know.

It's a really well written scene, played with deft finesse by a pair of true masters of their craft--Grayson Hall and Thayer David.

Not only the Adam storyline, but just...given ALL of the supernatural things that happened in that house...he HAD to know something. I'll never know why he decided to bring Hallie to live there knowing what was going on.

Maybe Stokes isn't as innocent as we all thought.  ;)

Eliot Knew, he had too. Either he knew and kept quiet, or he was extremely stupid.

The guy saw all these wierd things and had to know something, i'm sure their had to be something in one of Ben's old journals that told him
