I came across this webpage about the soap, DAYS OF OUR LIVES. One of the pages is devoted to the character "Tony Merritt," who at one point was played by Don Briscoe. If you scroll down, you'll find a nice shot of Don in his pre-DS days, looking very handsome!

Enjoy!

Thanks loads for posting this, JeanClaude! [bigok] [clap] 8) I'd never seen anything from Don's time on Days.

Hi Claude North thanks for sharing the pics on Don Briscoe.

Thanks so much.
Who else thought it odd that a future DS alumnus had a 'rare blood disorder'?? Chuckle.

Thanks for the link, J-C. I'd stumbled onto this awhile back when I was surfing the Net during a "Briscoe" craving. Recently, someone on the DS Forum posted that a kinescope episode of "Days" featuring Don as Tony Merritt exists (circa summer of '66), if not the entire "Days" series from 1965 to the present. As Days is filmed on the West coast, that may explain Don's "tanned surfer" look in the photos. An early holiday treat!
Now I'm waiting to catch Don's brief cameo on an "I Dream Of Jeannie" episode (soon to be aired on TV Land).

Funny you should mention Don's tanned surfer look, because that is how he looks on "I Dream of Jeannie." Plus, he's wearing a uniform... [santa_azn]

For those who care, there is an entire week's worth of episodes from Briscoe's stint on Days. I was lucky enough to trade for them with a fan whose name truly escapes my memory--it was many years ago.
It's the only substantial role I have been able to find for him outside of Dark Shadows. He projected such authenticity in this work.
btw, watching Days from 1966 highlights just how *good* DS was from the very beginning. The Days scripts seem to have cycled around the same dozen or so cliches endlessly. It's kind of the television equivalent of sedation.
