NNOT=Not Necessarily Off Topic.
As I posted on a different board, I've gone back to watch Fritz Lang's films which I had purchased.
I put in "Secret Beyond the Door" last night.
First, Joan Bennett is doing a low talk, quite reminiscent of, "Jane Eyre". (Please, if it was mentioned on here in like 2007, please don't put a link; it's been a long time.)
Haven't some of us speculated that Vicki's earliest days were, in fact, possibly 'influenced' by "Jane Eyre"?
Next, I had forgotten Joan's stepson was named David [easter_rolleyes]
(Can't remember Joan's husband's name) sister (sorry, can't remember her name) tells Joan he needs discipline, love, but a strong hand. (Gee, I wonder if this reminds me of anything...)
The dad smacks David for going through his stuff; Joan jumps in & tells him, no, he's only a child. Looks pretty big fo someone to say he's only a child....looks about 14ish.
There are quite a few similarities from "Secret Beyond the Door" and another TV show most of us have watched.
Opinion??
Let's hear 'em...

I definitely found THE SECRET BEYOND THE DOOR reminiscent of the first year of DS. Apart from everything else, Joan plays a troubled young woman who comes to a spooky mansion--as a bride rather than a governess--and learns that the head of the house is obsessed with "a secret beyond a door."
The movie also features the delightful Natalie Schafer burbling away from time to time.

Here's (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0040766/) the IMDB link to the movie. Michael Redgrave plays the husband. I haven't seen it but it sounds really cool!

Wow - the TV version was cut down from 99 minutes to 73! That's not good. Hopefully it's the 99 minute version that's out on DVD...

MB, it's the 99 min.
DarkLdy, I wouldn't call it 'cool'. If it's ever on TV (doubtful on Netflix streaming), I'd watch before I bought it.
