Thanks for posting the link Timmers. I for one am VERY ;D happy they choose Hollywood as the site for the next Festival locale. :)
-
Bob,
Disneyland is in Anaheim, not Hollywood. ::)
At this point, I'm just happy they chose a location near a real airport. ;D
-
Hi Tim, Thanks for the update!!!!
Love Anne :-*

Hurray! Back to Southern California next year!
Victoriawinters, Profstokes, Midnite and I won't have to hassle with LAX (or even Long Beach). That is cause for celebration. ;D
I will be very interested to see what hotel they have selected. Hollywood is not the best of neighborhoods, but it does have one or two good hotels.

Not only LAX, but also Burbank/Bob Hope (the preferred choice at Midnite's house).
it does have one or two good hotels.
The Renaissance Hollywood is a Marriott hotel, isn't it? That would be nice. :)

Will there be an official shopping expedition to Prada?
The thought of the footwear choices makes my head reel!

Well, if the location is really Hollywood, it's more likely to be a shopping expedition at Frederick's of Hollywood, :o or maybe a trip to the Max Factor Museum.
Hope you are right about the Hollywood Renaissance Hotel, Midnite.

Here's a link to the Hollywood Renaissance Hotel. Looks like the perfect place for a gathering.

I'm really curious about the mention of several first-timers. Could it be that Kate Jackson will be making her debut at a DS function? After all, she has been making the rounds at other fan conventions. Normally, I don't make any effort to meet any of the cast members, but I would absolutely wait in line to meet Kate. Along with Cher and Mary Tyler Moore, Kate Jackson was an icon of my childhood. Of course, I'd probably be too nervous to speak to her...
In any event, I am thrilled about the Los Angeles location. It's a city I remember with great relish...and the other condiments were good, too.
Thank you! I'll be here all week!
Regards,
Jean-Claude

Hi gang just wanted to say that i'm so happy
that the West Coast is having a chance to have
the DS FEST in their own state.

There has been a great deal of re-development and it's not the total dump it once was. And, yes no airfare this year! Hurray! And, I'll have my car. Even better!
The Hotel Roosevelt could also be a spooktacular place to have a DS Festival. It's supposed to be haunted.

Whereever you want to go darlin'. However, I'm sure it will mean a trip to Neiman's or Rodeo Drive for all the real fashion. A field trip to Chanel could be in your stars or the Beverly Center. West Hollywood can be a hot spot for some fashion. Moi, turn down a shopping trip? Never!

Actually, I'll probably be up on the Farm in Ontario with my boyfriend that weekend. In any event the LA fests are pretty much beyond my budget. But I'll be there in spirit...

Hooray!! I will FINALLY be able to go to the Fest in California!! :D I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, so there WILL be airfare expenses, but it will be MUCH CHEAPER and CLOSER to me!!
Actually, driving IS an option, too. But I would much rather pay more money and fly to get there faster. I could save money by driving, but it is too boring to drive for 6-8 hours. :o
HOW EXCITING!! 8) I hope there will be MANY DS Stars who were NOT in attendence this year and last year. It will be my third Fest. I will be there!! ;)

Sounds like alot of fun! I always wanted to visit CA so for me it would be like getting two vacations in one!
Thanks Tim (now if I can only get over my fear of flying) Can we take the train?? LOL!

What a wild color scheme at the Hollywood Renaissance Hotel! How cool would it be to have a room that faced THE sign!? Yes, I think I would enjoy my stay there.
I am curious about the Hotel Roosevelt that victoriawinters mentioned too though - a haunted hotel does seem to work well for our theme. ;)

Here's the link to the Hotel Roosevelt incase anyone wants to comparison shop...

BTW - the shopping spree sounds like it could be an event in itself! I'm planning on being whole new me by then and hopefully ready for a new wardrobe. 8)

I love that hotel! I'd stay there if the convention was across the street!

It is lovely, but it is a one bedroom, one bed suite, so we'd all have to get REAL cozy. ;D

It's fun hanging out at Chez Bette's. But who is bringing sedatives for Oscar the kitty? ;)

Crazy cat Oscar would indeed need a sedative. And J99, do you really want to see me brush my teeth? :-X
Sorry, moderators. Couldn't resist a private joke. Now, back to the topic. . . .
Happened to be near the Hollywood Renaissance Hotel yesterday. Now I hope we don't stay there. It is very sterile and uninviting-looking. And, save for one expensive restaurant, it appears that one would have to eat meals at the Hollywood and Highland shopping center, which is at least attached to the hotel, but a very crowded place. Oh well, we'll see.
Midnite, if they do pick that hotel I think we need to make a date to further check out the place. Even the parking looked complicated . :(

Sadly, I'm not the kind that conjures up cozy feelings in others...and I'm the LAST person that any of you would want to encounter first thing in the morning. And you thought Barnabas was cranky when Willie disturbed his rest! ;D

Sorry to hear that. From the website, it appears rather mid-century mod. As for eating, isn't Melrose Avenue nearby? I had a terrific lunch at a place whose name escapes me--Cafe Luna, Bella Luna? I had pan-cooked gnocchi that were out of this world. There's also a charming Italian place in Sherman Oaks (Mazzarino's). A bit of a drive from Hollywood, but I'll be renting a car. We can pile in and sing "Happy Days Are Here Again" and "Three Little Fishies."

Those restaurant names sound familiar, Jean-Claude. Since you successfully lead us to that great Mexican restuarant in Tarrytown, I certainly trust your restaurant savvy 100% :)

You're not the only only one, dear. Heck, nobody here's seen the likes of me before I take my anti-bitch pills in the morning...with plenty 'o coffee to wash it down. LOL ::) ;D

Caffe Luna, where you can get breakfast any time. ;)

Goodness... many restaurants are within short bus or driving distances. While a great many of them are in the complex, Mel's Drive-In, Las Palmas Mexican Restaurant, Pig 'N Whistle and all kinds of restaurants are near there. A short drive away and we'd be at Roscoe's House of Chicken & Waffles.
Or, let's just go where they have no microwaves at all... Musso & Franks. Some of these places are more expensive then others. But, hey you only live once. I have not been to Musso & Franks in an age and would just love to go again.
And, oh my the MetroLink Red Line can take us all kinds of places without dealing with the car along Hollywood Blvd. Such fun we can have!

Small correction, here, victoriawinters, so as not to confuse people. It is the Metrorail Red Line. Metrolink is a commuter train system that goes to and from Union Station from surrounding communities, but does not go to Hollywood.
Metrorail has light rail trains to Pasadena, Long Beach and Redondo Beach, and they connect with the Red line, which is a subway, and as VW says, make Hollywood a good location for mass transit. As someone who rides both the Metrorail Gold Line (from Pasadena) and the Red Line everyday, I can attest to the great convience of the system. I will be available to assist Fest goers with their mass transit needs for a small fee. ;)
