Title: Scary Monsters Magazine #99
Post by: Uncle Roger on September 29, 2015, 10:53:20 PM
The new issue of Scary Monsters. (#99) features a pretty good interview with Christopher Pennock. He discusses his DS time in depth, even sharing the names of some of the other actors who auditioned for Jeb: Jon Voight, Christopher Walken, Tommy Lee Jones and Christopher Bernau. It's an interesting piece from the viewpoint of someone who came in on the tale end of the hardcore DS mania and was there for the final year.
And, as a bonus, the magazine also features a photo of longtime DS fan Guy Haines.

Nice tidbit. Thanks for reporting this, Unc. Would enjoy seeing the pic of Guy.

Wow!  What a list of possible Jebs!  I'd like to try to picture it with the others.  Not sure I would know how they looked back then.

For Jon Voight one could check out Midnight Cowboy. Not sure what Christopher Walken and Tommy Lee Jones were doing in '69 - though within a few years Tommy Lee Jones would be on One Life To Live and would have a major storyline that involved a character played by Nancy Barrett.

Tommy Lee Jones made his film debut that same year. He had a small part as Ryan O'Neal's college roommate in Love Story.

[pointing-up]  I didn't even remember that. And I don't think I even put it together when he popped up on OLTL...

I didn't see Love Story when it came out. Too mushy for me. But the ABC publicity department played up the connection big time. Jones was billed as Tom Lee Jones for both projects. And perhaps you remember Dixie Carter briefly filling in for Nancy Pinkerton as Dorian.
