Were "Indians" ever mentioned on DS...either during 1795 or 1600s?
Thanks,
Patti
PS...does anyone know which tribes hailed from Boston/Maine?
-
A short Google search comes up with the following tribes in the state of Maine: (no doubt there are many others.....)
Passamaquoddy
Pennacook
Penobscot
Poosepatuc
Wabanaki
Maliseets
As for mention of them in DS....I don't recall ever hearing any references to Native tribes.

I am going to add the Abenaki to Rainey's list. About 2000 Abenakis live on two reserves in Quebec but at one time were allies to Maliseet and Penobscot tribes. Many Abenaki still live in Maine.
-
Actually, when I did that Google search, I wondered why it listed Wabanaki but not Abenaki because I've heard of the later, but not the former. I thought perhaps it was mis-pronounced for all these years and finally corrected or something....?
Thanks, onyx_treasure !!

That's amazing that one of the tribes is Pennacook and the show ends up with an actor named Pennock.
-
I believe in 1795, Daniel plans to run away, and Ben Stokes tells him that west was "Indian Country".
-
Tripwire...THANK YOU.
I was almost certain "Injuns" had been mentioned!!
PS...also, isn't Pennobscot an old Boston name?
("Hotlips" on MASH married a Donald Pennobscot....)
