Title: return to collinwood
Post by: veryvenn on April 26, 2004, 10:16:50 PM
When "Return to Collinwood" is released, will it be on  DVD or VCR? I'm unable to attend a festival and would love to see all those wonderful actors reading the play.

It will be a two-disc audio CD set, possibly with enhanced extra features.

Patti,

Videos from nearly all the Fests are already available from the various Fest videographers. All one need do is contact them to purchase copies. (Unfortunately, though, I don't have any of their current addresses on hand to pass along. If someone who does would like to post them on the CE/A '04 board, please feel free to do so.  ;))

For copyright reasons, the festival videographer is not allowed to offer the "Return to Collinwood" portions of that event for sale.  The piece was never conceived for anything other than its upcoming CD release; it is highly unlikely it will ever be commercially available in any medium other than audio.

My understanding is that the videotapes are in the hands of the Fest organizer anyway.

Drats! What does copyright issues have to do with it anyway? I'm guessing that the actors would have to be paid more money to be both viewed and heard rather than just heard. But in any event, I'll certainly buy the audio version and hope that it is enhanced with some visuals.

Yes, the videographer(s) were asked to hand over their tapes as I understood from them directly.

Not to worry, you're in for a treat when the audio version of it comes out.  You may not have been able to fit in the room that it was held in anyway.  There was standing room only. We were packed in like sardines. Rumor had it that MPI would be releasing it by last Christmas time.  I thought that seemed liked wishful thinking and apparently it was.  ::) No audio yet and no word when it's going to come out.  I enjoyed it but I didn't buy into the fact that Collinwood was left to Quentin to run after Liz's death.

Not to mention that Carolyn would ever ruin her life by marrying a [puke] RD character. Jeb Hawkes was bad enough, but THAT was complete insanity!! Better that she should have been committed to Wyndcliff.  :D

Sorry about that, mscbryk. I forgot that we have a lot of new members who may not realize that RD=Roger Davis (and we learn in RTC that Carolyn married Ned Stuart  :o)

Check out this topic for a comple discussion of RTC:

I wanted to tell you how the story of Collinwood was wrapped up in the present day by those actors and actresses who presented us with a wonderful radio-style rendition of RETURN TO COLLINWOOD. ...
