Title: O.T. Happy St Patricks Day!!!
Post by: AllenCollins on March 17, 2002, 04:21:45 PM
Hello all,
Just wanted to take the time to wish everyone a Happy St. Pattys, (particularly my Irish Catholic brothers and sisters). Let the green beer flow and the corned beef cabbage and soda bread be plentiful, (anyone for Darby O'Gill And The Little People?).

Quote of the day: "May ye have all the luck ye need - Angelique P.T. 1970"

Happy St. Patricks Day!  I shared my favorite Irish saying last year and will again this year.

Dance as if no one were watching, Sing as if no one were listening, and Live each day as if it were your last.

Happy St. Pat's to all.  There is another blessing I like...

As you slide down the bannister of life, may all the splinters be pointed the wrong way.

Good quotes birdie & Eleanor, (although I better stay off the banister, with my luck I'll be the one impaled and stuck midway with no way off).

As far as hertiage goes I am in the hientz class, (Irish Catholic, English, German, French and Italian).

Hope everyone had a lucky day!

I'm entirely Sicilian....which means, if you go back far enough, that I'm Greek, Roman, Arabic, Moor, Turkish, African, Spanish, English, French, Austrian, and any-and-every body else who marched across our little Island.

Tell me about 57 varieties!!

Dear RaineyPark,

The local PBS station here broadcast a program entitled "Visions of Sicily."   The show featured aerial views of the island.  Taormina was particularly beautiful.  When Francis Ford Coppola filmed "The Godfather," Sicily seemed very drab and brown.  However, this PBS program vividly demonstrated the verdant beauty of the island.

I remember my grandfather telling me how beautiful the island of Sicily is.  And, of course, as the venerable T. Eliott Stokes once said, "The Sicilian talisman is the finest in existence."

Bob the Bartender, who reminds you of the historical importance of the Cicero bean in Sicilian history.

Saint Patrick wasn't irish, he was an ignorant book-burning missionary sent to rob the celts of their own religion and culture.  Nothing happy about that!

Oh Bob....wasn't that footage just beautiful!!

My grandparents always talked about Sicily like it was the Garden of Paradise....which made us rotten grandkids ask "so how come you came to America?"

But they were right.  Not one of us has had the sense (or the money) to go back and see the little village outside of Catania where they all came from.  I swear, someday before I die.....

Raineypark, who listens to Carlo Butti on the Italian radio station, and remembers her grandfathers  singing under the arbor at twilight, when she was a child.

Dear RaineyPark,

I'm sure you probably already know this, but Catania is also the hometown of the father of arguably the greatest Sicillian-American of all, the one and only, Ol' Blues Eyes himself, Francis Albert Sinatra.

Bob the Bartender, who also admires those two late, great rock and roll Sons of Sicily, Frank Zappa and Sonny "Santino" Bono.

Bob, we are so far off topic here it's ridiculous....neither Dark Shadows nor St. Patty's Day has anything to do with Sicily.....

But we can wish one another Buona Festa de San Giuseppe......and go eat zeppoli and sfingi.....if you can find them in your home town  ;)!

Where I live, Italian Americans out-number EVERYBODY!!

How I spent St. Paddy's day:  Being GREEN Myself! [and making little green puddles!]

jeeeezzusss, what a case of stomach something!  My 'holiday' routine for the last few days:  unconscious - porcelain, repeat.

Today I had some cereal! and soup!  I wish I could have some of my favorite herbal medication!

Thanks to everyone for the notes of concern!  I am back in a weakened state, slightly addled - but I have had some wonderful hallucinations!  I can't wait to just feel 'funny' again!

Dear RaineyPark,

On the contrary, I believe that the late, great "King" Johnny Romano hailed from the south side of Palermo.

Bob the Bartender, who empathizes with Ringo's case of "agita."

Been there, done that a couple of weeks ago. not a pretty site and bronchitis was also a factor.  So, when I could I downed the echinecea and goldenseal and extra Vitamin C and whooped that bad bug!  Glad to here you're once again amongst the land o' the living!
