Title: In My Dreams - Most Valuable DS Item
Post by: dom on March 08, 2004, 06:51:09 AM
I thought it might be fun to reveal our personal wish list of the DS collectables we "wish" we could claim as our very own. This topic is inspired by Sandor's recent post in the Topic, Most Valuable Item. Let's have some fun and mix it up with serious and outrageous items. Thanks for the inspiration, Sandor! Loved your list! So much so that I've copied it here to start off this new topic.

MOST VALUABLE ITEM - in my dreams:
1. The butt of a cigarette smoked by Grayson Hall (w/ lipstick traces).
2. Nancy Barrett's boa when she portrayed the possessed Charity Trask/Pansy Faye.
3. The hand of Count Petofi.
4. Don Briscoe's underwear, and speedo.

My wish list...

1, Lara Parker's Cassandra wig (which I would present to Gothick on his next birthday). :-*

2, Viki Winter's trench coat. (This would be my ultimate unattainable DS collectable.)

3, A complete mint set of the "pink" DS trading cards (hell, I'd be happy with a well used set).

4, Burke Devlin's filigree pen.

5, The drawing room's crystal decanter that held the sherry, or was it brandy?

6, The I-ching wands.

7, Joan Bennett's script from episode one.

8, The take slate (with the final episode's stats still chalked on it).

9, Natalie du Pres's/Magda's deck of tarot cards - assuming they were the same deck. (The cards never lie.) I would present these to Midnite on her next birthday. :-*

10, The title to the Carey mansion (Collinwood) and a few billion to restore it and turn it into a DS museum and film set. I can dream, can't I?

- Angelique's blue & black dress from 1795
- to find a lost and sealed basement room at 315 park ave south (paperback library), filled with un-read/un-touched DS novels.

  • Julia's little red notebook
[nono]   I'm certain I've already put dibs on this item.....on a thread entitled something like ".....if they were having an auction at Collinwood".

As the people who bid on eBay know only too well, there's no such thing as dibs in the auction world.  [wink2]

You want it - you'll have to fight me for it.  ;D

Aside from many of the above mentioned items, I'd love to have:

1.) The medallion Julia uses to hypnotize everyone.

2.) The pulley-thing that opens the secret door in the mausoleum (my mind's drawing a blank as to what those are called!).

3.) The portraits of Josette and Laura.

4.) Barnabas's cape.

Wow what a fun topic, Dom and Sandor (your inspiration).  Hmm for moi:

1.  Julia's medallion (Scottd and I will have a bidding war).

2.  One of the tall candelabras w/ blue candles from the Old House

3.  One of Grayson Hall's cookbooks with handwritten adjustments . . .

4.  Some of those 1840 earrings.

5.  The Barnabas-covered clay doll Angelique defiled in was it 1840?

and last but by no means least - a working pair of I Ching wands set to the 49th Hexagram so that I could go back in time to prevent RD from ever going on a DS audition!

LOL!!!

What a fun topic!
Here's my list:
The box that held the hand of Count Petofi[bonny_hand] (that also seemed to show up from time to time at Collinwood)
The five pointed star pentagram that Magda wore around her neck to ward off evil.

Josette's blue perfume bottle that contained Rosewater.

The globe in David's room.

The amulet that Angelique gave to Barnabas to protect him during the duel with Jeremiah.

The Jukebox at the BlueWhale.

Naomi's emerald earings.

The portrait of Angelique from 1970PT.

Aristede's "dancing lady" knife.

The love seat in Josette's room.

I'm sure there's an echo in the now empty halls of Collinwood and the Old House.  Still, I'll put my 2 cents worth in - I believe I must bid against Terry308 for the cane [8393].

And, I won't be using it to beat poor Wille either! [angl]

Oops, heheh, I forgot to add my pick.

I'd like the lottery urn so I can present it to Bobubas for his Xmas round robins instead of his having to draw the names out of a baseball cap.  His Cubs hat might be needed for the next Series anyway.  :D

Hmmmmm....why didn't I think of that?

Okay....I'll bid on the cane......

and when it's mine, I'll give it to the dog for a chew toy...[vryevl]

Okay Raineypark...but if you do win the cane please say you will consider selling me the silver wolf's head portion.  You can let the dog have the rest.

I still think that wolf's head cane top - curved all the way around would make a really cool bracelet - on a much smaller scale though.  8)

I wasn't going to join this - I really couldn't think of anything and then found lots of good things listed here that wouldn't have occurred to me.

I did consider just saying "Barnabas"!!

But now, I think I'd like a lot of the dresses worn by Josette and Lady Kitty.

ROTFL  ;D  Thanks Midnite.  Both my Cubs and Red Sox hats have been through the 'rally cap' wringer, after the debacle that was last years playoffs.  :)

My most coveted DS props would be any of the wonderful portraits featured on the show, along with the head of Judah Zachery. Imagine what kind of conversation piece that head on display in ones home would make.  ;)

Assuming that the terrified shrieks of your fleeing guests qualify as "conversation".  [lghy]

The mental image of that in anyone's house just gave me the shivers.  Bob, would you display it with or without its display case and mask?  Yikes  :o

I would love the desk in Barnabas' parlor.  The two lamps on the mantel with the prism glass.

As Collinwood and the Old House are spoken for, I'll put in a claim for Dr. Lang's house. It looked  much larger on the outside which makes me think there could be hidden rooms and stairways, and maybe a little wing to convert into a music room.  :)

Oh, for sure without the mask in the display case.  ;)

Rainey, loved the 'fleeing guest' comment.  :)

As many of you may know from viewing my website, I have made re-creations of some of the portraits available on actual canvas. Anyway, I have the 1795 Angelique and the old Quentin hanging on the walls in my house.  When viewing the Old Quentin portrait, my 'non' DS friends have always confused him with the 'Tales of the Crypt' Crypt Keeper. So far no one has fled  :o after seeing him. ;D

Dom, who would have thought Don Briscoe's underwear could inspire such a fun thread?! Thanks.
Too bad Chris Jennings turned into a werewolf before the aged Charles Delaware Tate could finish the portrait he started painting of Chris - an oil painting of Briscoe would definitely rate up there on my "Most Valuable DS Item" wish list, full moon or not. Move it on over, Sabrina Stuart!
