Title: Thayer David's Birthday
Post by: Gothick on March 04, 2004, 03:13:46 PM
Thanks to the Calendar feature here (which I just visited to check out the highly touted photo of Don Briscoe as Tom Jennings), I learned that today, March 4, is the birthday of our beloved Thayer David.

Thayer has given me so much pleasure over the years with his wonderful wit and his humane performances.  I'm raising a glass of sherry in honor to Our Favorite Professor, hoping he's smiling on his birthday whereever he is!

Hail, Thayer, one of DS's greatest actors and from all accounts that I've read, a remarkable person!

From my initial viewings of DS, his compelling and believable characterizations really impressed me.  I'm grateful that he was given so many opportunities on the show to demonstrate his talent, considering that he passed away too soon afterward.  I'm glad to see that he's not forgotten.  :)

Cheers to one of the best, who is in a better place. [beer]

Thayer David is one of the true gifts in the DS universe. I can't even begin to imagine what the original series might have been like without him.  :)

[hello]

Now THERE was a man in the grand style.
I too, love watching Thayer's performances.  There's always more to discover and appreciate with each viewing.  You just KNOW from his classic and impeccable work that he was a man of true substance.  It comes through somehow.

I get the feeling they don't make 'em like him anymore.

No. Only admins can add items that will show up every year. The items that members post are added to a completely different table in the database and they only show up that one time.

Then would you add it to the 'permanent' area.

Thanks doll,

I'll have a glass of Amontillado in his honor a bit later ... (I bought three bottles recently  :D ).  I think Amontillado (a type of sherry, produced only in Spain) was mentioned by Barnabas -- or perhaps it was Professor Stokes -- at one point on the series.

Thanks for reminding us Gothick!  I too, like alot of others here have always enjoyed Thayer's perfomances on DS.  My two favorites were Count Pefoti and Ben Stokes, although I also enjoyed his character as the Professor.  And who can forget his role as Sandor?!!  All of his characters were so incredibly different and yet he played each one out so uniquely!  What talent!
