Title: OT: Briscoe Lookalike Sighting
Post by: ClaudeNorth on February 16, 2004, 03:29:10 AM
Was taking the train home today and saw a cute passenger who looked a lot like Don Briscoe.

A nice bit of eye candy to brighten my day.

Not much of a posting, but it is DS-related...

Found a fun article about Don Briscoe in an old 16 MAGAZINE from 1969. Check it out:
FULL REAL NAME: My full real name is Cecil (after my dad) Donald Briscoe, but everyone calls me Don.
BIRTHPLACE & DATE: I was born on March 20, 1940, in Yalobusha County, Mississippi.
PERSONAL DATA: I am five feet and eleven inches tall and weigh 160 pounds. I have medium brown hair and hazel eyes.
HOME INFO: I live in a bachelor pad on the East Side in Manhattan, New York City.
EDUCATION: I studied Comparative Literature at Columbia University in NYC, where I received my bachelor's and master's degrees.
MUSIC INFO: I've studied classic guitar, and I'm a dedicated shower singer!
FAVORITES--
MUSIC: The Mamas & Papas are my favorite group, and Bob Dylan is my favorite individual artist.
ACTING: Peter Sellers is great.
TV SHOWS: I enjoy most shows on NET, the national education station, and The 20th Century.
COLORS: I like "all" colors.
FOOD: I could eat breakfast three times a day--I really dig orange juice, eggs and cereal.
HOBBIES: Reading is my hobby. My favorites are the works of T.S. Eliot, The Alexandria Quartet by Lawrence Durrell, and The Book of Tao.
SPORTS: I love water sports, particularly swimming and diving. As a matter of fact, when I was in school I won several diving competitions.
WHAT LOOKED FOR IN A GIRL: I like a girl who is aware of herself as a person--someone who has a pretty good idea of who she is and where she's going, and who tries to express her "real" self.
WHAT YOU LIKE TO DO ON A DATE: Dance the night away at a discotheque, or go to a movie or play.
PLANS & AMBITIONS: I'd like to be secure enough financially so that I wouldn't have to plan--I'd like to just improvise my way through life, taking things as they come.

Thanks Sandor--cool article! I actually just won two 16 magazines on ebay with DS features in them, but I haven't received them yet. I can't wait to see what's in them! I know it's going to be bizarre to read articles on Jonathan Frid in 16 magazine!!

Hi John!

Meant to tell you that I was discussing my thoughts about visiting Toronto with my buddy in Ottawa, and he mentioned that in their gay history archive, they have complete runs of Colt Magazine from the Sixties.  So if there's a Briscoe layout in there, I'll have the chance to look for it when I visit.

Maybe I'll even be able to make a photocopy, or better still, order a scan!

Best, Steve

Hey Steve!

Sifting through an entire run of Colt Magazines certainly sounds like a difficult task!  <lol>  If you do find it, I'm sure I wouldn't be the only DS fan who would be deeply grateful...especially if you are able to order a scan of it!

Take care,

John

Briscoholics? I don't know.  :-   I'm thinking it's all been a farce - there really is no such thing - and those of you who've claimed to worship at the feet of Briscoe have been fibbing all this time.  ::)  Yesterday came and went and not one of you acknowledged the day, much less celebrated. Perhaps all your supposed fawning and professions of lust have simply been a scam to elevate your post counts on the forum.  :(

Shame, shame on you. And poor Briscoe - if he reads the forum, he must be so disappointed.  [bawl]  I feel so sorry for him...  :'(

But don't feel bad, Don. Even if your so-called fans have abandoned you, the forum staff still appreciates the contributions you made to DS.  :)

Well, I *did* notice the Lustful Lad's debut on the montage, but was far too raddled at work (we now have the operating system FROM HELL) to manage a post about it.

Can't wait for the appearance of some of the infamous FANGING pictures here!  yowza!

PS At first I thought you were referring to his birthday, but then I checked Sandor's post and saw that that's not until the 20th.  Chris Jennings would be relieved that it's the night of the New Moon this year!  arooooo!

Well, Briscoe might take a bit of solace in that small acknowledgment. But that's not all so-called Briscoholics should have noticed. Poor Don is no doubt still in tears.  [bawling2]

Sure, sure - but trying to suck up to him now is probably pointless.  :-

When a day like yesterday is declared (a declaration we've afforded no other DS actor, mind you  ;)), celebrating in private?  ???  ::)  :o  PUHlease! Public celebration is definitely called for. Public screams of devotion are even called for!  :D

March 1 was Don Briscoe Day?  I know I stopped by on that day, and I totally missed that.

I'm glad my eye dr gave me a clean bill of health on my last visit, otherwise I would be calling her!

I was in New Orleans partaking of a Hurricane

Well, even if there was a hurricane in New Orleans, a true fan wouldn't have let a little thing like a hurricane stop them. A true fan would have intuitively known Monday was Briscoe's special day, and they would have moved heaven and earth to get on the forum to celebrate it.  ^-^

It's DON BRISCOE's world - we just live in it!
Hey, Don B. fans, I missed March 1st being Don Briscoe Day, so I'm hoping we can all mark our calendars for his actual birthday on Saturday, March 20th. Perhaps post an anecdote or a remembrance of your favorite Don Briscoe episode... besides the one where he tears off his shirt. Those who actually met him outside the studios of DS in the late '60s, come forth! Share the memories! Did you follow him to his pad in East Manhattan after the autograph session? Is he really sexier in person? Is it true what they say about guys from Mississippi?  Does anyone remember his '66 stint on "Days Of Our Lives"? Donny Talk - let it flow.

I've heard whispers for years about Briscoe being a Colt model, but never knew if it was true or not.

As he is the DS actor I've always most wanted to see naked, please be sure to let us know if the pics surface.

And if the pics include shots of Briscoe's bare tootsies, be sure to let Dom know!
