NBCs Passions, the soap that spoofs DS, Bewitched, classic horror movies and retro pop culture, FINALLY did what I`ve been hoping for.
After making direct references to Titanic, Wizard of Oz, Psycho, Bewitched, etc, there was a direct reference to DS.
Today, Jan 15, 2004, Tabitha(Juliet Mills) the show`s 300 year old witch, told her protege Kay about her love affair with Al Capone. After a B&W flashback to gangland Chicago in the 20s, Tabitha quipped: I`ve had many beaus over the years. One gentleman, Barnabas Collins, couldn`t get enough of me!
Passions did use DS music in 2001 and 2002, but this was the first spoken reference to the show.

Ohmy god what a riot!

Hi Annie and Julia:
it was a hoot and a half!
but it was also so typical of Passions!
this show is wonderful but has to be seen to be believed!!!!

That would have been such a beautiful cue if they'd gotten Lara Parker for a quickie guest shot...
Angelique suddenly materializing, snarling,
"Now, WHAT was that you were just saying about MY main man, Tabitha?" [kaiokn]
CHICK (witch) FIGHT! [argue]
Or is that Chickwich fight? I have fast food on the brain, sorry... ::)
