Title: Catherine's "Condition"
Post by: Josette on December 23, 2003, 09:46:25 AM
This must be another example of what I call "Dark Shadows time."  They aren't explicit about when there's a change of day - but, Morgan wanted to marry Catherine immediately after his father's death.  I think it got postponed one day.  Then, when they tried to do it, Bramwell intervened - another day.  They had to hold the lottery, so that was at most the next day.

It seemed to take a day to get Gabriel into the room.  Then, after his experience, they learned that they had to hold the lottery again.  One has to assume it's been at most a couple of days since then.

Somehow Bramwell completely recovered from his wound in a day or two!

Meanwhile, even if we expand this time a bit and say that it's been 2 -3 weeks instead of the 1 week it would seem to be, there's still no way that Catherine would know she's expecting at this point!!!

It's always this way in soap time. . .i mean how many kids went from toddlers to teenagers in just 1 year in serial land? I think the fact that this was actually over a month in "DS airing" time (and fans memories) was used at the time.

Take my word for it, Josette....she could know in 3 weeks without a modern test.  I did..... ;)

And unless I'm much mistaken (which is always a possibility), a doctor would be able to tell from a physical exam from the appearance and feel of the cervix (this came up on the AMC TWOP thread not too long ago--I learned more about gynecology and obstetrics than I ever thought possible  :P )

And it was so nice of you to share some of it with us.  [scrdy]

Catherine didn't need a doctor.....she didn't need a midwife.....she didn't need an Early Pregnancy Test.....and she certainly didn't need an internal exam!!!

For pete's sake...all she needed was a calendar and the ability to count!!
