Title: Favorite Quentin
Post by: Mysterious Benefactor on October 08, 2003, 04:13:24 PM
Over the course of various storylines, we were treated to four distinct versions of Quentin - which do you find the most fascinating?

While I really like 1840 Quentin, and am currently (clears throat in SciFi's general direction) missing him, the prototypical Quentin that we first meet as a ghost is my fave.

First off, he's great as a ghost - really menacing.  Then we meet him in 1897, and he's a scalawag, but just jaw-droppingly sexy.  Sure, he doesn't get to do much after the return to 1969, but he was great with the Amanda/Olivia storyline and played a good nutcase in the pre-1840 story.

If I'm allowed to separate the different storylines, I'd say 1897 Quentin is my favorite.  Again, sexgod, but also he develops quite a bit as a character - making him seem much more three dimensional.

just had to do that - love the skeletons!

1897.  He was and still is gorgeous!  As Cassandra Blair said he was a "scalawag".   8)    But he was drop dead gorgeous.  You loved him the minute you met him, and would scold him for having Edward call him an opium (sp) user, trying to strangle grandmama, and having Sandor "write" another will.  And thats just the start of it.

But he was so cute............

 Hey guys!

I liked him in the 1969/1897 storyline because he scared the heck outta me. He was also really mean and domineering..which i found to be super-sexy!...

1897 Quentin the "scalawag" as others have described him. :) A rogue, but so handsome. 8) Also, I liked the way this Quentin had a soft spot for Jamison. And he made a creepy ghost, too.[flashing_eyes]

By far, the beginning of the 1897 storyline when he was such a scallawag.  He didn't think twice of abandoning his wife, running off with his brother's wife, leaving his brother's wife to die what he thought was a horrible death, beat it home in time to get on Grandmamamama's good side to get first place in the will, rough Grandmamamama up to get her to reveal the secret, indulge in the black arts and seeking help in the same with the scoundrel Evan Handley...........and yet, demonstrate great affection for his nephew Jamison.

I do not have a reason for simply adoring the 1897 Quentin Collins...

Other than...

 His beautiful locks
 Or his mutton chops
 His gliding walk
 Or the way he talks
 His smiling lips

   but  alas I do!  ;)

  Sarah's [ghost]

         ;) Quentin...  :P Carl... >:( Barnabas  Skeletons

"Scalawag" seems too genreous a word for someone who stoops to strangling his grandmother and exploits the nephew whom he allegedly loves in black mass ceremonies.  When I first began watching 1897, I thought that Quentin was an utter creep for his abusive and womanizing ways.  I thought that Magda was perfectly justified in cursing him; he had it coming.

My opinion changed with time though.  After Quentin learned about his children, he underwent a transformation.  (And I thought David Selby captured the realization perfectly in his facial expressions during the scene where Magda informs him of his son's death.)   Slowly, he began to mature.  It wasn't a complete process--he backslid an awful lot in both 1897 and 1970--but I was impressed to see that Quentin was making an effort of sorts to change and to be more of a helper and protector than he'd been in the past.  Of course, seeing the gap between the Quentin of 1995 and that of 1897 was amazing!  To think of all that he had withstood in the past and then to look at the state to which Quentin had been reduced was humbling.  It was a long and crazy journey for this character, but it made him all the more interesting.

Early 1897 Quentin is my fave.

Off course 1897 Q is tastiest, but since everyone's voting for that, I'll say PT 1970.

He really did have to carry quite a bit with 'alot of people away'...

The way he wants to be rational in the midst of 'duplicate women' and pop-up-faux British cousins, was pretty good.

Too bad we didn't get to see Angelique alive (for real) with her husband, Quentin.

Definetely 1897 Quentin for me!
He was a real scoundrel yes, but a cute one at that.
I liked him in this storyline the best because I think this is the way his character was suppose to be before it got all watered down in the upcoming storylines.  He kept you interested because you never knew what he had up his sleeve or what he was gonna do next.

:PQuentin?? There's a tough one. I loved him in every roll he played. He injected such great humor in 1897 even though he was such a scoundral. He was the most evil-looking ghost (sorry, Gerard) I ever saw in 1840 and a fascinasting family member is PT and 1970. Yes, Quentin could rattle my cage any time.

I voted for 1897/Leviathan era Quentin Collins.  I never haven't seen the first half of 1897, but the part I have seen, I enjoyed.  He seemed at his best during that time period.  The 1840 Quentin is also interesting, but so far I prefer the 1897 version.

This was an easy choice for me :D

PT Quentin is just a yutz.

1840 Quentin is a tad too self-righteous for me (no pun intended).

1897 Quentin may be a nasty piece of work, but he's fascinating to watch.

Well, by a huge landslide it looks like 1969/1897/Leviathans/1995/1970 Quentin is the most fascinating!  [winkg]

Thanks to everyone who took the time to vote and share their opinions.  [smlyg]

Torn between 1897 Quentin and 1840 version. The 1897 Quentin was such a scoundrel but he always made me laugh,he had such a wicked sense of humor...I loved all his sarcastic remarks to Judith, Edward, Trask. ;D

The 1840 Quentin was totally different, he wasn't so cynical but he was such a dashing figure, so authoritive.

I was disappointed with the Leviathan thing when Quentin had very little to do (other than the whole Amanda/Olivia Corey thing) other than being a "sympathetic bystander" (got this for the Dark Shadows Compainion and couldn't agree more). The character of Quentin deserved better.
