Title: OT: Robert Cobert theme music on Blockbusters
Post by: patrickm on December 15, 2013, 08:36:11 PM
This topic may be a bit silly - but GSN started running Blockbusters at 9am after Match Game - and Robert Cobert wrote the catchy theme for the show. Bob actually wrote several game show themes including 1st versions of Password, The Price is Right and 2nd versions for To Tell the Truth and $25,000 Pyramid. A footnote - although Bill Cullen hosted game shows for like forever, Blockbusters was the only one he won an emmy for. Guess it shows Bob's music made everything better.

I've never heard of the show.  At first I thought you meant the video rental chain which I think is defunct?

Roughly when did it air originally?

He didn't write the current Price is Right Theme - he wrote the 1st version. Price is Right was later brought back in the 70's. And Blockbusters ran on NBC from late 1980 til 1982.
