no one has mentioned anything about the ds reunion dvd that was to be released this week. i ordered mine from AMAZON.COM and they sent an e-mail today stating that my order has been cancelled and the dvd i ordered is not being released at this time! a friend of mine on the east coast told me he purchased it from movies unlimited in philadelphia! what gives?
-
Joe,
I noticed this a few weeks ago, but didn't think much of it at the time. For a while, Amazon had the Dark Shadows Reunion DVD listed twice, using two different stock numbers.
Apparently, they deleted the duplicate entry, so that anyone who placed an order from that page got the notice you received about the item not being available. Anyone who ordered from the page they left up received the DVD.
This is not the first time they've done this either. >:(
Brilliant, huh?

Brilliant, huh?
Oh, so very. [speechless]

So, if I went to amazon NOW, would I see the DS reunion DVD for sale? And does anyone know how much it costs?

i wrote to customer service and informed them that they r advertising the item that they cancelled. they wrote back and said that even if i ordered it again the order may be cancelled again! this makes no sense. im just going to get it at tower video or somewhere else.

patti, read my latest post. i would think twice about ordering this item from amazon.

My copy is on its way from cduniverse.com and I also saw several copies on the shelf at my local Best Buy. Sounds like Amazon is not to be trusted with this title.

Thanks, Bette, for the Best Buy mention--I got the cancellation notice from Amazon earlier this week, and assumed the DVD was delayed, but I went to BB today and picked up a copy. Just finishing watching it--what a great tribute to DS to be featured at the Museum of TV and Radio. Fun to see them all together again. Definitely worth buying!! ;D

You're welcome, Brian. Glad it worked out for you. I was very surprised when I happened to see copies at BB because my local store usually does not carry much in the way of DS. My copy arrived yesterday from CDUniverse, but I have not yet had the time to view it. I was fortunate enough to have been at the actual event at the Museum of TV and Radio, so I know that I have a treat in store.

Whoa. You're shopping at Best Buy again, Brian?
Glad you enjoyed it, wherever you bought it. ;) Agree that the tribute was very enjoyable.

Yeh, Midnight, I broke down and went back. I'm surprised you remembered my previous rants against BB. Of course I have to add that I now do 95% of my DVD/CD/Books/etc. through online merchants (e.g., Amazon; Deep Discount DVD; Columbia House DVD Club; BMG Music Service.) I no longer need the immediate gratification of buying from a local store--but this disc was an exception. LOL.

It's a curse. I remember what happened on the forums ages ago but not where I put my coffee cup or keys. :-

I found mine at Best Buy too. They had 3 of them in stock and on the shelf Saturday for 19.95. Actually 2 now since I picked mine up. You can also get them through DVD Planet.com.
-
I ordered mine through Amazon (with "A Mighty Wind") and it is now somewhere in Illinois. Sigh. Oh well, I ordered it with my Amazon Visa, so at least I'll get the points.
Btw, Midnite, love your sig file. Long live Spike.

Speaking of curses and not being able to find things, my scissors have been missing for the last three days. But as you know, that rarely has anything to do with memory.

I got my copy at J & R Music World on Park Row in Manhattan for $14.99.
They have many copies and all their new DVD are always discounted...all cost less then Best Buy!

LOL--I can relate!

MB--try the couch cushions. I found a missing pair of sissors in cushions of the sofa in the basement. I won't tell you how long they were missing or when the last time it was that I cleaned the sofa.

MB--try the couch cushions.
Believe it or not, I've checked all the cushions with no luck. But then, I didn't really expect to find them there anyway...
But thanks for the suggestion. :)

You probably tossed them out along with the last cache of body parts..... [ignore]...oops.....wasn't supposed to mention that again. [sssh]

My husband always takes mine from my desk and then I can't find them. He is at your house by chance? [ghosty]

Great release -- I only bought this for completeness, really, but it was a pleasant surprise. A lot of the time, I think DS goes seriously overboard on the nostalgia/tribute angle, but this seemed to justify its rose tint.
Watching the music montage with the reunion guests, I broke into a broad smile -- probably like some demented and overproud parent -- and i guess pride is the best sentiment the disc conveys. The fans, the actors, everyone genuinely seemed proud and at peace with the show, not attempting to apologise for its shortcomings and disappointments.
The extras are fun too -- Joan Bennett does a classy turn on the Mike Douglas show, while Kathryn Leigh Scott gamely smiles through some hilariously inept 1969 promotions for the show, which are all the more amazing for not even trying to explain what "dark Shadows" is about! Bless >:D
