Mr. Davenport was a terrific actor, who also appeared in several episodes of the original, "The Avengers" television series, from the BBC back in the 1960s.
However, I think that I will always remember Mr. Davenport best as the somewhat older, but still quite lascivious "commodore," who tries to rob Mrs. Hyacinth Bucket (pronounced "bouquet") of her honor on the wonderful "Keeping Up Appearances" comedy series. [hall2_kiss] [hall2_shocked]
By the way, there has been no shortage of British actors with the given name of Nigel over the years, including Nigel Bruce, Nigel Davenport, Nigel Green, Nigel Patrick , etc. (Yet, I can't think of many Americans with that Christian name, can you?) [hall2_wink]
