Since it's October, the TV stations are playing any/everything 'spooky'.
There was nothing else on; I watched "The Unholy".
It only took me a moment to realize the star was Ben Cross!!

The movie is terrible, truly awful.

I saw him as the star of another terrible sci-fi TV movie, in which he played a totally human-looking alien who'd crashed and needed a human woman's help, blah blah blah.  I also think he got her pregnant in a weird alien way the moment they met, without her realizing it for awhile, and they spend the rest of the movie dealing with her weird space pregnancy too.

I know nothing of cross other than his work on DS 91...

is he some sort of sci-fi, b-movie cult figure?

He's been in lots of things, but I imagine he's most famous as one of the stars of "Chariots of Fire," which one Best Picture Oscar in 1981.
