How weird - you received a different error from the one that I'd gotten before I'd fixed the double-quote problem in Post.php. I successfully uploaded attached a JPEG, but you tried a GIF. So, let's see if I can attach a GIF...
Nope, I can't. :- So, let's try another JPEG...
How bizarre, I'm getting the same error for a JPEG, too - even though I was obviously able to do it the first time.
Well, I'll definitely check out the line in the Post.php script that's referenced in the new error, and we'll move on from there. ;)

OK - same double-quote problem - different part of the script. The section I'd already fixed deals with starting a new thread. The new error deals with posting an attachment in a reply to an already existing thread. ;) I'll fix that and try again in a few minutes...

Voila!
(It's amazing how well things work when the script that runs them is actually written correctly. ;))

I should probably also mention that the maximum attachment size is set to 100KB. The system will NOT currently accept files larger than that.

Thanks!

Well, Midnite, how wild that you'd pick that screen cap to post. I wonder if anyone other than the two of us even know what it's from? [b003]

I was about to ask - who is it?!!

Isn't that from "The Pretender"?

I wouldn't have known on my own, but now that you mention it, I think you're right! :)

Same actor, but it's not from that show.
He's also a DS alum, but it's not from that show either. ;)

It's Michael T. Weiss (The '91 DS' Joe/Peter), but as Midnite has already noted, the capture isn't from The Pretender. Here's a hint: It's actually from a cable series that was popular in the '90s that was known for having many of its actors take their clothes off because it dealt with sexual fantasies. [wink2]

Okay...what did I do wrong? :-[
Unless you explain what it is that you did, we have no way of knowing that. ;)

I tried posting a pic of Tommy. Followed the directions, hit preview, wasn't there :-[

Hi Patti,
You have to follow the directions to the letter. You need to click on Post to have the attachment show up. It won't load using the preview button. I did the same exact thing as you did, that's how I know, ;) .

Okay...too big...
(how do I know what size a pic is...and if I crop it, is it less than 100mbk s or whatevery?)
Thanks Dom...took your advise
Patti
Okay...190 mgs (no, not miligrams..whatever).
It's a 'regular' picture MB...can I make it 'less' mks or ??
Patti
Looks like all my pics of Tommy are all over 100 mbs.
How do I make them 'less'?

Well, with most graphics software, you bring down the "Edit" menu and there should be a choice that says something like "resample," "resize," or "redimension". Click on whichever your software has. Then after the resize window comes up, enter "528" in the the first box. Clicking the TAB key should automatically fill in a value for the second box, then click "OK". That should give you a smaller copy of your pic and then you can save it on your hard drive by using "Save As" from the "File" menu and by using a different name so that you don't overwrite the original pic.
I hope that helps. :)

I wouldn't say that they'll waste a lot of space, but as with OT posts, we'd ask that OT attachments please be kept to a minimum. ;)

MB, I've been trying to resize my photo's too but when I hit my "edit" button, I don't see any of those options that you had posted in your above post? Is there some kind of program that I need to download to do this?

Cassandra,
You didn't say what you're using, but if it's one of the image viewers that comes with Windows then you'd need to purchase the graphics software (assuming you don't have any). Which one would depend on what you want it for (what else besides resizing images?), your operating system, your budget, your skill level, the features you want, etc., so you'd need to do some research.
-
I don't know if I'll phrase this right; but for me; I had to go into PhotoAlbum, edit or something; it wasn't just clicking to re-size. (Like almost re-store them.)
Hope that helps Cassandra :-*

Thanks Midnite & Patti! Im using Windows XP. I really just wanted the feature that you could use for re-sizing and nothing else because I seem to always have problems with pictures being too large whenever I try to post them somewhere. I do have a program that came with my computer that's called "Wizard" and I've used that to re-size my photo's, but for some reason it doesn't work with GIF's. I've looked at some free programs on the web but not sure just how trusting they are so I figured I'd have to end up purchasing some sort of program. My daughter has a program called "Photoshop" on her computer so I may wind up using that one.
Patti, did you have to purchase yours?

Please do not attach images unless you have the consent of the owner/creator of the image.
This goes without saying for most posters, and it certainly isn't the first time the mods have pointed it out, but images downloaded from another website and displayed on the Forums, whether as an attachment or in a post, must be done with the written permission of the image owner. You may otherwise be guilty of image theft, which is more insidious than bandwidth theft (using IMG tags to refer to an image on another site without authorization from the site owner, and also known as direct linking) because in most cases the owner of the image is unaware that a theft has occurred, but in both cases the images are subject to removal by the Forum administrators. Image theft is a copyright infringement, and posters who indulge in this illegal acitivity despite repeated warnings from the mods are jeopardizing their posting priveleges.
If you'd like to show readers an image that's on someone else's site, the best way is to provide a link to the page on which the image appears in context, and the best Netiquette involves linking to that site's home page.
If anyone has questions about this, please don't hesitate to ask. Thanks!
