Title: Return from the future 1995

Quentin certainly moved up in the world while Barnabas and Julia were away.  It looks like he ended up with the best room in Collingwood and just a month ago, he was being introduced as another cousin and was living in the hotel.

How did he ingratiate himself so quickly into Collinwood? He almost seemed to be in charge of the great house.

My they are a welcoming bunch!

HobbiesDS,

Quentin has taken up digs in his old 1897 room.  (I suppose they fumigated it, what with it being sealed up for over seventy years, and also being a tomb for the beloved Rev. Gregory Trask's remains during that same time period.)

Judging by the "antique" decor of the room, the Q-Man (like his cousin, Barnabas) has little use for the "modern conveniences."

By the way, how many lit candles did Quentin have in his room the other day, maybe, 150?  I tell you, the guy has more candles in his room than there are at St. Patrick's Cathedral for High Mass!

Ain't THAT the truth.

Think about it....Barnabas couldn't possibly have produced a passport or a driver's license of any other documentation of his identity when he first showed up at Collinwood.  But they not only welcomed him with open arms....they gave him the keys to the 200 year old mansion!!  Just because he happened to resemble a painting (not a photograph, mind you....a painting!!) on the wall.

Can you picture Barney trying to explain his way through security at any American airport NOW?

There really is no explaination given about how Quenitn so suddenly became an important part of Collinwood.  How he was able to move into a section of the house closed off for almost 100 years or why Elizabeth would allow he or anyone else to live in that room.  However, during this segment, Louis Edmonds is absent from the whole 1970 time period, and the character of Quentin is used almost as Roger who have been used.  There is sudden closeness with Elizabeth and he is like her new right hand man.

One thing about Quentin's room in 1970 that I noticed the ohter day is that it is being lit by candles.  However in 1897 it was lit with gas lamps.  I found it interesting the gas lamps have now been changed to candles.

I assumed that Quentin's room was in the main house.  He was very surprised to learn of Julia and Barnabas returning to the West Wing and asked Hallie what she was doing there.  I got the impression that it was still closed off.

Elizabeth was shut in for 18 years or so. .. she wants lotsa people about now ..so she opened the door for Barnabas, then the visiting historian/doctor Julia, Amy, Hallie and then Q. . . Elizabeth IS the Collinsport WELCOME Wagon . .

I got the same impression too, especially since in yestedays episode Quentin was telling David to stay out of the West Wing since it's been closed off for years and could be unstable and dangerous.

Judith turned off the gas to that room before Gregory was entombed in there with but one candle.  >:D
