On another DS discussion forum, some fans are claiming that the picture of Jean Flagler is actually a photo of a young Grayson Hall. Can anyone confirm this?

As a member in good standing of the JuliaList (actually the Grayson Hall List) for several years, I can tell you that the possibility that it is a picture of Grayson has never come up or even been speculated about. I do not think that it is a picture of her. I have seen pictures of young Grayson, and while the hair looks right, the face does not. In fact, to me, it looks more like a young Joan Bennett. (See todays montage.)
If this IS a picture of Grayson, maybe Steve has some info. :)

I've read speculations from fans about it in the past-- I think on the shadows list and the Newsgroup-- but it was along the lines of "did anybody else think she could pass for a young GH?"

I thought it was Joan when I saw it in the montage. But it is impossible (for me) to tell because of it's size.

After studying the photo carefully on tape, I am among those who believe the lovely picture is indeed that of a young Grayson Hall...
Although I read Grayson's real name Shirley?

where is this picture you are all talking about?

Julia, I kept wondering the same thing, until I realized that Jean Flagler is the wife of that man who told them about how she died when something fell on her at Collinwood (as almost happened to Julia subsequently). There was a photograph of her in his house, but I didn't pay that much attention to it.

The photo is again part of the current montage (lower right corner) if anyone would like to check it out.

I surely wish I could prove that picture is that of a young Grayson Hall... perhaps someone here who will be attending this years fest can ask the cast members during QandA then announce the answer afterwards?
although I believe the only person who could know would be JF. :)

Thanks to a closer and clearer pic in the montage, it is clear that it is not JB. Doesn't look alot like Grayson to me but it may well be. Great fun mystery. If it hasn't been solved by now, I doubt it ever will be. But I hope it will. Is Sam Hall still alive (I guess I should know this)? I wonder how possible it would be to ask him (through the proper channels, and if he is still living of course). It would be great if someone from the show attending the fest knew the answer.
Hope everyone had a good weekend.

Well, I have seen photos of Grayson from the Forties, and, as I recall it, the Jean Flagler photo looks completely different. A friend asked me the last time 1995 was broadcast whether I thought that was an old headshot of GH's from her Shirley Grayson days--I did not think so. I can have another look, though, at some point. Once I unpack my Dark Shadows tapes (I just moved).
Or perhaps some kindly soul could post the jpg here...

OK, I just took a look at the capture on the montage, and I'm betting dollars to doughnuts that this is NOT a young Grayson Hall. It just bears no resemblance to her, and the young pictures of her I have seen have a very different style from this. I actually thought it looked like a headshot of a younger Lisa Richards.
just my two drachmae,

It's probably something they took off someone's desk or an empty frame they bought at Duane Reade across the street. . . :P

Thanks, Gothick! :) I figured if anyone would know, you must.

Hey gang,
Well, whoever she is, she certainly is a strikingly attractive lady, imho.
Bob the Bartender who, like Old Blue Eyes used to croon, says: "Beautiful girl, walk a little slower when you walk by me."

Hi all! I didn't think the picture looked like Grayson at all. I did however (I think someone mentioned it here also) think that it could possibly have been a young Joan Bennett.
Anyone find out who the mystery woman is yet?
