WHERE DID THE NAME JOSETTE DUPRES ORIGINATE?
DID DAN CURTIS HAVE A SOURCE HE CHOSE FROM ?
I KNOW THE NAME BARNABAS CAME FROM A TOMBSTONE
HE CAME ACROSS IN I BELIEVE A CEMETERY IN CONNECTICUT

Now that's a good one for some research. Josette - at least the first mention of her - came pretty early in the show (although she had only her married name of Collins and died, at least then, in the 1830's). It's interesting that she would be of French origin (and in the earlier episodes, again, she came from France and not Martinique). Time to start scanning the books and see if they say anything.

Also, originally Josette's maiden name was La Freniere. I don't know if the writers decided that they didn't like this name and wanted to change it to Du Pres, or if they simply forgot what went before and had to find another French name.

I forgot all about that. Well, for whatever reason they changed it, I'm glad they did. "La Freniere" sounds like a French cheese factory.

Also remember when Vicki "became" Josette at the first seance she could only speak French. How did they ever explain that one? ?!?
