Title: DS DVDs On Sale
Post by: Mysterious Benefactor on February 09, 2013, 12:46:17 AM
I was just reading the TV Guide Web site, and what should come up on a page but an ad for a sale at ctucenter.com on what appears to be the boxed set of the original DS - but without the coffin box - or the booklet. I know - very weird. And I can't say that the sale price is even all that good - especially when compared to the sale prices we've seen on Amazon. And actually, their whole Web site seems weird - if not downright suspicious. However, what I did notice when I went to their site is that the offer of the original series is apparently their most popular selling product - and the '91 DS is #7. Very interesting!

MB, this does not look at all legit to me. I would steer quite clear of this vendor.

No phone number or contact other than by email. Definitely fishy.

One might think TV Guide wouldn't even advertise such a Web site. But then I checked their TOS and read that TV Guide takes no responsibility for the sites that advertise on theirs. Very convenient. Apparently they take the money and look the other way.  [snow_sad]

I will never forget the feeling of betrayal down to my core that I felt as a young adult when I learned that just because things are on TV or in print, doesn't make them true. And the revelation that the history I was taught in school was probably just a biased point of view really made me loose faith. If I don't see it I don't believe it. And you know how that saying goes.

Nowadays, I always steer clear of anything that doesn't come recommended by someone or at least from an Org I've already done business with or has a good return policy.
