My TV's already off.  Do I have to turn it on?

When I was a kid, and there was some test and it said "Please stand by", I was always tempted to go and stand beside the TV.   I probably even did it a couple of times...

Did you stand at attention? Were you wearing checkered tri-colored polyester pants?
