Title: Leviathan - movie - Related Topic
Post by: Josette on June 03, 2003, 04:34:00 PM
I happened to notice that on TNT late tonight (2 a.m. Wednesday - Eastern) there is a movie called "Leviathan"!  It's from 1989 and stars Peter Weller.  The description in our TV magazine is:

"Precious-metals miners become trapped on the ocean floor with an eellike genetic alteration."  And it's rated R!!

I suppose that might fit the description that some of us have of "our" Leviathan.  :)

Thanks Josette,
I'll have to remind myself to watch it and see what's it's all about, (being the night owl that I am) ;)

Leviathan is a rather silly, faux-John Carpenterish movie about a crew of scientists trapped in a facility beneath the sea with an ugly monster. It's along the same lines as Deepstar Six, which was actually a better movie, despite the former's much bigger marketing campaign in the late 80s. Peter Weller is a favorite of mine, though, so the movie is kinda worth watching. Once.

I've seen this listed in the past, too, and was always curious what it might be about.

Thanks for the rundown -- guess I'll skip it!   ;D

I've seen it.  Like Mark said, it's watchable once, just for the heckuvit, if there's nothing else and nothing else to do, and the remote is too far away to reach and change channels.  It's also just another rehashing of the Alien theme - people trapped and the bug-eyed-monster bogeyman is gonna get them.
