The only song not accounted for in the credits is a version of "Highway Star" by Deep Purple, and that doesn't match either. I wonder if they changed it in post-production and didn't update the credits?

Petofi, I remember a fairly lengthy discussion about this, but can't recall what the song was. It had something to do with Angelique. The obvious thing would have been Witchy Woman but I'm pretty sure that wasn't it.
I'm surprised some of the people who are into the 2012 movie haven't responded. I am sure there are fans here who could answer your question.

I thought it was "Season of the Witch?" Not really a fan of the overuse of 'modern' music in the film or the character of Carolyn so I didn't pay that much attention to it when I saw the film or in subsequent discussions. Anyway, if I'm right, you're welcome. If I'm wrong, someone correct me, please. [8_2_77]

Okay, here is the original topic:
The song Carolyn is listening to when Angelique arrives at Collinwood

Thanks, Midnite- my lack of specificity in the repost obviously wasn't helping my cause! [santa_tongue]

I can't figure out if the question's been answered. <headscratch>
Love the eternal loop, lol, very DS.

Not answered yet! [santa_rolleyes]

It's not "Season of the Witch" - and it's not even Donovan who's singing.
I wish we had heard a bit more of the lyrics because a Google search might have brought up the song. But every way I try searching for "You're like a hungry tiger" seems to bring up nothing useful. [santa_sad] I suppose it's quite possible that the song isn't popular enough or current enough to have its lyrics on the Internet.
-
Ahhh... I guess it was in another part of the movie that she was listening to that? When I see the movie again, I will be sure to give it a closer listen.

Carolyn plays/dances to "Season of the Witch" as part of the dining room scene where Vicki first meets Roger, Julia and David. [santa_smiley]

Ahh. Yes. Now I remember! Thanks, MB.
Using those lyrics, I did a quick search of possible songs.
We have
Dr. Love by Motorhead - There is a reference to "cat clothes," which could sort of fit Carolyn's character. Not the right date, though.
Move Like Boom by Pink Lemonade - Most likely not it.
Animal by Lady Gaga - Again, not likely.
I Can't Wait Until Tomorrow by Bobby Sherman - Possible.
So, for anyone who has heard the song, you can compare it to these titles and see if it's a match.
-
The singer is definitely not Bobby Sherman. I don't recognize the voice.

1972 was my era as a kid getting into music and I STILL can figure this one! It's certainly in the "rock" vein rather than typical "pop" of the time . . . I thought maybe it was a different Deep Purple song than listed in the credits, but still can't nail it down... [santa_tongue]

I think it may be HIPPY NIGHTSTRUMS by Tom Higham. It may be something contemporary written to sound appropriate to the period.

I saw that title when looking into this. But, again, I am of little use since I don't have the movie in hand. But, I would definitely back up that suggestion and compare that song to what is heard in the movie.

That may indeed be it, Darren - thanks for bringing it up. [santa_smiley] Unfortunately though, Googling that song brings up a lot of potential possibilities to download an mp3 copy of it, but it doesn't look like any of them actually pan out. At least not that I've seen. [santa_sad]
-
Hippy Nightstrums appears to be the instrumental guitar piece heard in the background during the hippie campfire scene.

Curiouser and curiouser.

There's an app called 'Shazam' at least for android smartphones (it might be available for iPhones...), that basically you turn the app on and hold it up to the speaker and it'll tell you what song is playing. It actually works really good as I've tested it on some pretty obscure stuff. I've even been in a noisy restaurant and it picked up the song playing on the background music... I don't have the new DS dvd, but it might be worth a shot for someone to try if the song is loud enough on Carolyn's headphones.
