Our first look at the Bobbleheads
I have heard Dan Curtis will shoot a new DS pilot featuring Bobblehead versions of the characters...maybe that's only a rumor though

Our first look at the Bobbleheads

If that picture of the Barnabas Bobblehead is any indication, these are actually going to be a lot better than I'd expected - or should I say, feared :o, when I'd first heard about them. Bravo, MPI. [thumb]

Hey, not bad...I was expecting them to look a lot more like cartoons.  No doubt would have purchased them anyway though.  I'll have to think about the DVD club and see if it's going to work out as a better deal than buying each separately.  Has anyone worked that one out yet?

As far as I can tell, there are no major savings for members of the DVD Club, apart from not paying postage.  Many online DVD dealers offer discounts of up to 30% on the DVDs and, even with postage, they end up costing less than MPI's price.

On the other hand, one of the benefits of membership is receiving the sets before anyone else.

John

Although you end up paying a little more for the MPI DS club as opposed to Amazon it'll definitely be worth saving the $5.00 on each of the Bobble-heads.  And getting the videos in a timely manner is certainly worth it to me since I won't have to try and remember to get over to Amazon to order them.

I wonder what the 'casket' for the Bobble-heads will be like that they talk about in the advertisement?

I can't remember where I saw it but something is in the works for Dan Curtis in relationship to DS filming in 2004.   Have not heard anything about filming the Bobble-heads.

It'll take more than Bobble-heads to get this curmudgeonly Yankee to sign up for the DVD club.  I'd hoped for at least a 15 percent discount.  Instead all we are being offered is more schlock to clutter up our shelves.  Bleah.

As for the Barnabas Bobble-head, I shrieked as I was convinced I had just seen Sky Rumson as a vampire!

Or maybe it was Captain Scarlet with fangs???

I hope there are no plans for a Julia Bobble-head.  I may have to summon Hoffman to bring me the black pins!

Its not as cheezy as I thought it would be.  Who are the other bobble heads going to be?  Wouldn't they look precious next to my Osbournes bobble heads?? ? :D

About this Bobblehead.  Now you know the first one will be Barnabas, dear sweet misundersood, Barnabas...but who will be lucky enough to win their place in DS history.

I would place my bet this way

Barnabas Collins [vampy]
Angelique
Dr. Julia Hoffman
Quentin (Anne's boyfriend) Collins
Nicki  Blair

Barnabas,dear sweet misundersood, Barnabas...

My gawd, you sound like Helga on Hey Arnold!  :P Do you have shrine to him in your closet? lol.
I think they shoudl have a set of five boblleheads commemorating Louis Edmonds:
Roger Collins
Joshua Collins
Edward Collins
Daniel Collins and
Roger Collins 1970 PT
all with a special shot glass and bottle of brandy...Mustang and pain pills not included.

Oh no, Steve! Don't do that!  I am hoping very much for a Julia Bobble-head.  It will go right next to my Clayguy Julia.  :D

I don't see the least resemblance between that bobble-head image and Jonathan Frid.....for which, I am sure, Mr. Frid must be truly thankful!  ::)

Naturally, I would love a series of Grayson bobbleheads:

Severe Julia, in lab coat with bobbed hair
Chic Julia, in black, fur-trimmed coat with classic short 'do
Natalie DuPres, with hair piled high
Magda, with hands on lower back and elbows pointing behind her
Carlotta Drake, with flowing dress and sinister smile

A few fun choices, some (all?) of which will NEVER happen:

Dr. Eric Lang
Ghost of Jeremiah
Ghost of Josette, disfigured version
Buzz Hackett
Old Barnabas

John

Looks more like Ben Cross than Jonathan Frid.

I wonder if, in order to make it look like Frid, MPI would have needed special permission, so they decided to make a "generic" Barnabas instead. I seem to recall one of the people behind the Innovation DS comic saying that he would have liked to combine likenesses from both versions of the series, but the licensing process to do so would have been far too complicated.

John

And hopefully wearing that outfit that made her look like she was dragging the comforter from her bed around behind her. ;)

Oh, yes! My choice would be the dress she wears when she catches Tracy trying to sneak down from the tower, and she gives "her" opinion of Charles Collins:

If not that, then the orange one she wears when she welcomes Quentin and Tracy to Collinwood, brings Quentin to the tower, and reveals "her" past with Angelique:

(But definitely not the one with the fringe that makes her look like she's wearing her bedspread! [lghy])(Are we sensing a pattern with some of Grayson's DS characters' outfits? ^-^)

Thank you, MB carissimo, for those GORGEOUS Grayson captures.  Just what I needed to round off my weekend (and revisiting them will help me make it through another wretched Monday morning, I am sure).

Your swooning fan,

Gothick

What a riot!  Such an UP for the late afternoon.  .that bedspread outfit was hysterical. . i hope that wasn't filmed in the heat of a New York summer.  .  .
