This is for the David Selby fans on the board. Starting June 2nd, Goodlife will be airing the 1981-1982 primetime soap Flamingo Road, which costarred David Selby, every Monday night at 10:00PM (Eastern Standard Time). Unfortunately, Goodlife isn't carried by that many cable companies *sigh* like mine.

VWR...can you briefly remind me/us of the plot...for some reason...there's a distance memory of it.
thanks (I've never heard of that station so I'm SOL too)

I've never seen Flamingo Road, so this is what I've read about it:
The show was set in Truro County, Florida. One of the original storylines was about a triangle between a politician, his wife, and his true love. Some other characters on the show included a paper mill owner named Claude Weldon and his family, a man in construction named Sam Curtis, and a newspaper publisher named Elmo. David Selby was introduced during the second season as the show's villain, Michael Tyronne. Michael actually did some stuff with voodoo on the show. In the second season finale
Michael was killed in the last episode, but was raised from the dead by a voodoo priestress or something lol. The series went off the air after that brought-back-from-life cliffhanger.
I hoped that helped.

VictoriaWintersRox,
Thanks so much for posting this. I hadn't heard a peep about it until now. I added the info to my site. I'm sure someone out there gets this station. :)

I saw this info about Flamingo Road on another board and at that time (I think this is a few weeks ago) you could go to the good tv website
http://www.goodtv.com/
and they'd contact your cable company and ask that their channel be added to the lineup.
I would like to get good tv not just for Flamingo Road but quite a few old series I used to enjoy.

The voodoo priestess was played by non-other than JJ (Dynomite!'s) mother (on the show), Esther Rolle.
and it was the ONLY thing Morgan Fairchild really did after Search for Tomorrow, and she's been riding high on that 2 year show and her looks for decades, and of course, being Chandler's Mom. . . :P

Actually, she appeared on and was the defacto "star" of the ABC soap The City when it evolved out of Loving in the mid or late '90s (I forget exactly), and she's been in dozens of made-for-TV movies. Although, the quality of some of those movies is probably another thing entirely. [wink2] And now, of course, her "great claim to fame" are those Old Navy ads. ::)
-
She also appeared on Falcon Crest for a while as Jordan Roberts, an attorney who worked closely with David Selby's character, Richard Channing.
And, like everyone else we tend to think has dropped off the face of the planet because they aren't doing tv and movies, she's also done some stage work. About a year ago, she appeared in Singin' in the Rain in Pittsburgh. She was the movie star with the horrid voice, Lina Lamont.

Was that Morgan Fairchild in an Old Navy commercial? It's a take off of the Love Boat and she's the cruise director. It sure looked like her.

I did go to goodlife dot com; didn't see anything else I liked, so won't call the cable company YET.
But thanks for the info.

I'm well aware Morgan Fairchild has done other stuff fleatingly none too successful. . my point was that Flamingo Road is what has kept her afloat, it's what people remember. .which I really don't understand. . .it wasn't that good and was only on for 2 seasons. . .how many people remember Flip Wilson and the Flip Wilson show which was a Top 10 show for 5 years. . .??
Just confounding really. . . :-

I remember her from longer ago than Flamingo Road. She used to be on a daytime soap, but I can't remember which one.
And I certainly remember the Flip Wilson Show. I watched it faithfully. His best line in the show? "The Devil made me do it!" >:D

Oh oh, thanks Bette, for jogging my memory about Flip Wilson! I watched that show regularly and especially loved Geraldine!
What you see is what you get!

I remember seeing clips of it on a few specials. Most of the clips I've seen involved his Geraldine character. Next year, TV Land will be adding it to it's line-up along with The Carol Burnett Show, both of which I'm looking forward to.

Search for Tomorrow I believe ..with Jo as the show matriarch. . .
