I love the innocent involvement of David. The first time he met Barnabas, he thought Barnabas was a ghost, and now when he sees Maggie dressed up like Josette, he thinks he's looking at the ghost of Josette - and of course that's even more pleasing than his mistake about Barnabas, because we've been seeing and hearing about Josette for nearly a year, whereas we first saw Barnabas’s portrait only a few weeks ago.
And then I started thinking about the changes in Collins family history that the writers had decreed in order to make David's favorite ghost into Barnabas’s lady-love, and suddenly it didn't seem as magical as it had before. Never mind. I still love it.

Having brought David back to Collinwood, Barnabas asks Roger if anyone has found any clues to Maggie's disappearance. Roger says no, but adds, Perhaps Dr. Woodard's blood samples will provide a clue. This is Barnabas's first hint that medical science could link him to Maggie's disappearance, and he listens attentively to what Roger says about it.
Roger's compassion extends far enough for him to say that he ALMOST feels sorry for Sam Evans.

I keep wondering if the door opening on its own is a weakened Josette. maybe to her picture being banished from the mantel or a more powerful presence of Barnabas has reduced her to door opening or maybe it's another ghost. Barnabas tells David Josette is gone. How does he know? And Why? because she is afraid of Barnabas even in her ghostly form.
