This past December, David Selby appeared in the L.A. Theatre Works live audio theatre production of On the Waterfront in the role of Fr. Vincent, a character specifically written for this adaptation.
On the Waterfront will be broadcast on March 29 at 8pm by KPCC FM 89.3 in Southern California. Although many public radio stations offer live streaming audio via the Internet, KPCC does not.
However, those not in the KPCC listening area can check their local NPR station's broadcast schedule to see if LATW productions are part of the lineup. Schedules vary from station to station.

Thanks for the info! I wish I could say I get the station clearly, but I do get it. :D
And if I may steer off-topic for a moment....
Congratulations to you, Criseyde, on your nomination for a departmental teaching award, woo hoo! [bigok]

when i searched the radio station, KPCC FM i found out it was in pasadena. unless you have FM cable or something, i'm afraid most of us in the los angeles area will not be unable to get it. (there may be one or two exemptions.) i was just about in despair. but then i did some detective work.
i searched to see if L.A. Theatre Works had a web page and they do! they also sell audios of their previous productions on line. i am so thrilled. i discovered they have several david selby things for sale (just not on the waterfront or at least not yet!) so my heart is now hopeful of being able to hear him in this show or at least hoping that barnabas-claus will at some point give me one of these as a gifty poo.
here is the click (http://www.latw.org/catalog/index/actor/David%20Selby).
and back to the OT discussion, congrats ms. criseyde on your nomination. i think you'll be shoe in. [hello] [clap]

Turns out BBC Radio 4 aired On the Waterfront last Saturday, and it's available in Real Audio format on their web site. I suspect this will be replaced by whatever play they air this weekend, so I'd check it out ASAP.

If that URL doesn't work, use the one below and scroll down to Saturday play:

David's character has his first lines about 25 minutes into the play. He has an Irish brogue. :)

Cris!! [wavey]
Thank you so much for the link. Have you listened to the whole thing? I haven't had the time so I was jumping around and listening to different chunks of the play. I can't find the parts he's in. I heard what sounded like David near the beginning, reciting a short prayer in Latin, but that's it.
If you've heard it all, do you recall in which parts he appears???

I realize I'm a bit late with this because I've been busy beating my computer into submission, but thanks for the attention. :)
The nomination itself merits a line on my c.v. If I win the final award, I get $1,000. I also get to tell my undergrad prof who told me I'd never make it as a teacher to stick it where the sun doesn't shine because I received a teaching award at a Big 10 school. :o

I must have missed when Midnite first said this.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!
