They are now.
;) :)
-
;) :D
So they are! Can't even blame MB....he wasn't on at the time! Must be [ghost] in the machine! [lghy]
Thanks Midnite! :-* :D
Okay....why isn't the 'kiss' I put after Midnite showing up?
Now the 'open smile' is there....but the 'kiss' isn't!
Let's try the others! :-X :'( :-*....okay the 'kiss' is HERE, but not after 'Midnite" above!
??? 8) >:( These are all here......? [hdscrt]
Deleted the first 'kiss' and then put it back....it's still not there. What have I got...a dead spot? :-
Okay...now I have another one...there should be a 'crooked' mouth basic smiley after "dead spot?....and there isn't.
I know I'm rambling here....but I figure the more info I can give you the better.....right?
-
Thanks Midnite! :-* :D

The kiss in the smiley listing was at that moment replaced by a smile emoticon but as you can see it's back. MB is no doubt tinkering. He doesn't have to be on the forum to be accessing the site, btw.

See above re: MB. ;)

Okay....I get it now.....even when it does't LOOK like his fault............it's probably STILL his fault.....right? [smirk]
Thanks Midnite! [coolbrows]

You can't blame me - I was nowhere around. Honest. I haven't done anything on or behind the scenes of the forum since about 8:30 am.
But it looks like they're all working now:
:) ;D :o ::) :-X ;) >:( 8) :P :- :'( :D :( ??? :-[ :-*

Wrong. :(
There might actually be something to your [ghost] theory...

Is there supposed to be a smiley after the word 'wrong'?
I'm seeing that tiny yellow dot that I get when I put a smiley on my message, but it doesn't show up in the preview or the post. Please don't tell me I'm seeing spots in front of my eyes. It's there.

Yup - the sad smiley.

Hmmm - how weird...

Let's see if it works for me......
[beer] my favorite....

Hmmm - how weird...
Okay....please look at my second post on this thread and tell me if there is a 'kiss' after 'Midnite' on there. I'm seeing another of the tiny dots there, but I think Midnite actually saw the 'kiss' when she looked at the post.
As though it shows up on my screen when I'm writing it, disappears when I preview it, doesn't appear on my screen when I post it, but appears to who ever is reading it.
Now I'm confusing myself silly. [6184]
Do you understand? :-
Okay....now THIS is weird. I had a 'crooked mouth' basic smiley appearing here and on my preview screen, right after 'understand' all the while I was writing and correcting this. But as soon as I went into the Get More and grabbed the forehead-smack smiley....I previewed... and now the basic smiley is gone and the tiny dot is there.
I swear Pepe....I am NOT making this stuff up. If you tell me you're working on it and to stop giving you this blow-by-blow stuff, that's fine. I'm just thinking if this isn't happening to you, you won't know about it if I don't tell you.

I see the dot where you posted a smiley, Rainey.
Let's see if mine comes through: :-* ::)
You must have a smiley grabber[bite] on your keyboard.

Smiley grabber, LOL!
Do you understand? :-
The problem has to do with IE. I see the smileys in your posts using Netscape, but in IE the sad smiley is also missing in MB's message following "Wrong."

AAAKKKKK!!!
I'm stuck with IE....the version of Netscape on this computer is so old I think it was written by Thomas Edison!! The Kid has her entire life's history stored on it and throws a tantrum every time The Husband says he's going to change it!!
You wouldn't think the Basic Smileys would mean so much with 274 new and improved ones....but I GOTTA have my 'rolls eyes uncontrolably" smiley!! ::)
WAAAA!!

Now why doesn't that surprise me? ::)

When you upgrade to a newer version of Netscape, you have the option of using all the previous settings/info from the old one. The setup program just imports them right in.
But if your daughter is still afraid that her stuff might get lost in the process, the nice thing about Netscape is that, unlike IE, you can have more than one working version. A newer version can be installed and run while you're still using the old one. You'd have the option of doing a clean install (which means starting from scratch with no previous settings/info imported) or you could import your old settings and use them with the new version while your daughter would still be able to use them with the old. Nothing would get lost. Trust me. I've had multiple versions of Netscape running on my computer - and I've never lost anything. :)

I thought we couldn't use Netscape. After reading this I decided to try my Mozilla and it now works! In fact, some smilies that didn't show up in IE do show up there. Yippee!! I won't have to bring up IE just to come here!!! :) [clap]

This woman is getting rather amusing in her old age.

PS Basic smileys aren't working for me either. 8)

Netscape 7.x, Mozilla1.x and 2.x, and Opera 6.x and 7.x may stop working with the forum again. I haven't had the chance yet to see if the security issues I had with those browsers on the SP forum are also present with SE. If they are, people will once again be restricted to using Netscape 6.x or IE. [sadb]

So I guess the appropriate response to this problem is to be grateful that it's the 16 Basic Smiley's I'm having a problem with....not the 274 New, Amazing, Fantastic Smileys.....and to leave well enough alone at least until the situation with the newer Netscape versions is resolved.
rainey.....who is always grateful when weird crap isn't HER fault. [woryb]

I just installed the latest version of Opera (7.02 - and in fact, I'm posting this message with it) and all the smileys show up fine. Who knows what it is about IE that's causing problems? :-
