That was me trying to install the Add More Smileys mod. It still doesn't want to work. :( But I'll keep trying...

And let's not forget the message that's still on the opening page to the forum (and probably will be for some time): "(Please don't be surprised by anything you might see or that might happen while you're there. (http://www.dsboards.com/YaBBImages/wink_2.gif))"

I guess that explains why the smilies moved from a horizontal bar above the message graphic to a vertical bar along side it....and then back again. Not to mention that I can't get my smart ass smiley to appear.  :(

But that's okay...take your time....we've waited this long....I'm sure we don't mind.

This thing is being extra stubborn. I'm following the installation instructiuons exactly as they're written, so the problem has to be somehow related to our host's setup. But at the moment I have no idea just what it is...

Well, I found one problem - the idiot, excuse me, the person who wrote the mod hard coded the name of the smileys directory into the Subs.php script - a definite no-no in programming. You should NEVER do something like that! Particularly when you give people the option of deciding on their own what THEY want to call it!!  >:(

Let's see what changing that does...

     My 7 year old son was laughing so hard at these new "yellowbabies", he said his heart was bursting.  He always got a kick out of barfing yellowbaby but his new favorite is [toilet].  Thanks for all the new "yellowbabies".

I can't seem to manipulate it.

It opens a separate window.  Check your task bar for "Dark Shadows Forums Smileys List!".  If the window appears on the edge of your screen, click the dark blue area (or Move) and drag it to where you want it.

There'll all there, Patti, if you scroll down.  Use the down arrow key.

Does anyone use a popup ad killer?  If so, I'm curious if it has to be turned off to access the extra smilies.

It shouldn't make a difference.

Although the words shouldn't, wouldn't and couldn't are dangerous concepts if/when you're dealing with Microsoft's software, there are no posts on YaBBSE's site about conflicts with this mod and popup add killers. But then, there also aren't any posts about the 16 standard smileys behaving weirdly in IE either... (Which seems odd. The developers of YaBBSE are a loyal Linux bunch, so they wouldn't be using IE (they use Netscape, Mozilla, Opera or Linux's native browsers Konquerer (for KDE) and Nautilus (for Gnome)- but you have to think that a good portion of the people who'll vist a YaBBSE forum are using IE - yet not one word. :- )
