Hey, ya know, while I'm here, I'd just like to announce that LoveAtFirstBITE is making her theatrical debut this Wed through Sat nite in BYE BYE BIRDIE.  I'm all excited -- going to 2 of the 4 shows.  (Ya know, I don't get it.  She's always been this quiet, rather shy person and all of a sudden she's turning into this ham on the stage!)   ROFL

That's FABULOUS Connie!  Enjoy every minute of it.  And you're right to see it twice...the first time you just watch your kid...the second you see the show!

My kid's school drama group just did "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat"  We were amazed at just how funny it was.  I think kids that age are just having so much fun on stage that it's contagious!

Enjoy!!

Well, wish her good luck with that old show biz saying, "break a leg, kid".

The image is 687X398 pixels (Netscape displays it at the top; right click for IE and choose Properties), so if you include these dimensions in the image tags as shown in the Help files, like this
Code: [Select]
[img width=687 height=398]http://members.aol.com/clchalifoux/images/sour-grapes.jpg[/img]you'll get this:

Hope that helped.

All my best to LAFB for what I hope is the 1st of many successful shows!

The forum's system does that so that images that are wider than 548 pixel won't make the topics disappear off of the right side of the monitor screen for people using a resolution of 800X600.

Congrats on your daughter's debut. Break a leg, LoveAtFirstBITE! And remember, it's bad luck to talk backstage during the performance. ;)

Whoa!  Thanks for the info Midnite and MB!  I have to jot that down.  Before, with the old board, I never had to include the dimensions in the code.
Thank you thank you.

Hi Rainey....
Aren't these kids great?  They put so much work into these shows too.  (LAFB's been living at rehearsals - literally).  Can't wait!

Carol my dear....
I have NOT forgotten your latest email.  I have a couple of suggestions re the exhaustion - just have to write all the info out.  Bear with me (like you always do)   ::)

And Annie.....

Good Luck to LAFB big show.  My daughter was in "Birdie" in a summer theatre goup a few years back.  She played the mayors wife.  She really suprised all of us. It is a great show for kids.  I have to say I loved being in shows in high school.  Our CYC put on a show every year.  I even sang a solo, and I have a horrid voice.

Enjoy--Birdie--who never fails to go off subject

LOL!!  That's an understatement!  That "rug" is so thick that it reminds me of what the Eskimo's wear in Alaska! It's a wonder that the poor guy is sweating all the time. ;)

Good Luck to LAFB on her theatrical debut!  My 16 year old belongs to a dance class and it's such a thrill when you go to the recidals and see your child up there on the stage!  These kids put so much into their perfomances and they work so hard at it that sometimes I think they're actually better than the ones you see on TV!  You must be so proud of her!

Best of luck LAFB and as they say, "Break a Leg!"

Thanks everybody, for all the well wishes.

By the way......I just looked in the "help" section for emoticons.  I only saw the one list.  Are there not any others?   :'(

Well, it's done.  Thanks for the nice messages, everybody.

There were a couple of problems.  On opening night, one of the microphones stopped working (not while being used), the left footrest of my wheelchair fell off while I was using it on stage, and a spotlight came crashing down from the ceiling where a lot of us had been not long before.  But the rest of the show went fine for the next three nights, and teachers and people in school were telling me how funny I was in it.

Congrats, LAFB!  I am surprized that our old friend Mike R. Phone would have been uncooperative, as omnipresent as he is on the daytime show! 8)  Nickname the W-chair Footofi, and keep the Zombies away from the followspots!

ummm, were you SUPPOSED to be funny in it?

We're baaaack!  Bon Jovi was sold out at the Pepsi Arena.  They had 3 satellite dishes on stage that showed Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora up close and a laser light show. They played for almost 2 hours. The Goo Goo Dolls was the opening band; they played for 45 minutes.  My ears are ringing from all the screaming and shouting near us. I saw hairstyles on some women that I haven't seen in 30-40 years! We had a great time together.

Oh yeah, right, Connie. You took LAFB to see Aerosmith. Bon Jovi is more my speed.
Elaine and I drank beer during the concert and she's still 6 months short of being 21 so that was my daring do for the the evening. She's staying at home tonight and returning to college tomorrow morning.

OMG! It's a good thing no one was hurt when that light came crashing down.  (Are you sure Count Petofi wasn't there??)

Im glad it all worked out well for you though.  You must have had a blast!  I can remember doing a play when I was 14 (that long ago) and between the crazy rehearsals, no airconditioning (it was late June) and the frazzled nerves, it was one of the best times I can remember having during my teen years.

I bet you can't wait for the next one. ;)

Well, jennifer, I've been through the Disney On Ice, Stars on Ice, Barnum & Bailey Circus, etc. My last concert before this one was when I took my daughter & her friend to see the Backstreet Boys. I paid extra for floor seats and we still couldn't see them very well. She denies it but I think she wanted me to join her to pay for the parking garage fee, the outrageously priced Bon Jovi items, and the snack food. It was easily a $100 night plus tickets.

Dom, you would not believe what I saw! Beehives, bouffants, straight hair parted down the middle(I think this style is coming back, right?),  Dynasty/Falcon Crest big hair, over processed dye jobs with roots, over processed perms, spikes in day-glo colors, etc. It was culture shock for this old broad! Maybe even for my daughter who looked at some of these styles like they were from another planet!

And yes, Midnite, my mom was there when it happened- just a few rows back.  It went down in front of the audience but no one was hurt.

Hi Carol,   You might have been at the same concert that I was because I took my two daughters, my niece and a friend to see them at Radio City Music Hall.  It was about three or four years ago in July.
Oh, yes, and that parking is outragious too!  My brother in law wanted to save extra money by parking in a cheaper garage.  Now, I don't mind walking because I do it everyday anyway, but walking 23 blocks down N.Y. City on a HOT summer afternoon during a heatwave is no picnic!
I almost passed out literarly and my poor sister in law had to take me into the nearest Cafe just to cool off while the rest of the group was still walking up ahead and unaware of what was going on.  The people in the Cafe were so nice, and kept giving me water to drink.  What a day!
Needless to say I was never so happy to sit in a loud concert with a bunch of screaming young teens in my life just as long as it was airconditioned!

(P.S. To this day I will not leave my house without a water bottle, even if it's 10 degrees out!)

Glad you had a nice time Carol!  :)

Congrats-LAFB.  The memories are going to be stuff you will talk about forerverFavorite Birdie song is Got a lot of Living.

Carol you are a very cool Mom.  I wish I could have gone to a concert with my gang.  Like Jennifer it has been Disney on Ice.  They are spoiled though we took them to the Radio City Christmas Show and a Broadway show.  My brother in law took us to see the Beach Boys at the Melody tent last Summer at the Cape.  That is a great place to see a concert every seat is good.

Connie when did you see Aerosmith?  My son went last fall.  His friends uncle is in the band.  He is still taking about meeting Steven Tyler.

Cassandra-- I have the same brother in law. hehe.  When we were at the Christmas show he is the only one that would not park in the garage.  He kept running out to put quarters in the metors.

Sorry, Cassandra, but we saw them at the Pepsi Arena here in Albany, NY. In fact, we are getting lots of popular venues: like Cher, Dixie Chicks, Elton John, etc.

Oh, my! I can just imagine parking in NYC. While staying in the city over Thanksgiving, our car had a nice stay for $30/per day and we stayed for 4 days, 3 nights.  In Albany, the garage was $10 for the length of the concert and you had to remove your car within one hour after the concert--otherwise the gates closed.

Yes, the place was air conditioned but I ended up sitting alone most of the time while Elaine and friend kept running up to stage area to scream and shout. I should of brought a book!

Awwww, thanx, Birdie. That's exactly what my daughter told me--that I was a cool mom that she didn't mind being seen with! My kid is spoiled, too. She's an only child so we go overboard at times. I'm planning a trip to Cape May now for the 2 of us--hanging out, eating well, going to a dinner theatre, etc. We did Gloucester, Mass last year and had a great time.

Hi Birdie,
We saw them this past fall (also the previous fall) at Tweeter Center in Camden -- it's next to the aquarium at the waterfront.
OMG - LAFB would sell her soul to be able to meet Steven Tyler.  I paid over $700 just to get her pit tickets that were fairly near the stage.

Husband won't take bus or train for family vacations so the car it is. Took it out once for drive around city but that was it until we drove home. We take turns driving in/out of city. He prefers that I drive because he says I drive like a cab driver & can get in/out of city easily.

Connie,
His friends Uncle plays the lead guitar.  He is the bloud one I think.  They saw them in Hartford in Sept.  Hate to tell you this they got in for $00.  They were back stage before the concert.  Steve Tyler put his arm around Joe.  I guess when they tour again Joe has a good chance of going again. Tell LAFB that my son says they are very cool and very nice.
